For all activities in Canada, the Sustainable Manager is responsible for providing leadership, technical support and advice on all matters relating to environmental and sustainable development issues, particularly during proposals but also start-up. of the project. He/she supports the implementation of Webuild's integrated management system and, if necessary, develops and/or provides training.


Ensures compliance with the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) guidelines of the Group:


  • Enforces safety and evacuation procedures, leading by example (responsible driving, wearing PPE on-site, etc.).
  • Promotes a preventive approach and ensures the health and safety of team members (RPS, working conditions, etc.).
  • Contributes to the implementation of the Action Plan, performance review, and roadmap within their scope.
  • Raises awareness among teams and ensures adherence to environmental guidelines, allocating necessary prevention resources and fostering individual accountability.
  • Govern the process for budgets and financial plan preparation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide financial insights for decision-making.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual financial results, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct financial analysis using various methods, such as trend, variance, and ratio analysis.
  • Prepare and present reports on findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Support all aspects of environmental and sustainable development programs for proposals and projects, including periodic reporting activities in the field;
  • Guide operations to provide maximum operational flexibility while maintaining compliance with policies and procedures set forth by the Webuild Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure that environmental and sustainability issues are addressed and that requirements are met in accordance with the requirements of the company but also of the client with regard to applicable regulations;
  • Ensure that all sustainable development initiatives are coordinated and fit into the priorities and strategies of all stakeholders;
  • Establish and maintain effective and profitable working relationships with the relevant government authorities;
  • Play a leading role in internal environmental and sustainability reviews, including developing mitigation and offset proposals acceptable to Webuild and all stakeholders;
  • Liaise with global headquarters and government authorities and act as the single point of contact for Canada on all matters relating to the management system in the field;
  • Lead the preparation and submission of the environmental portion of proposals and support the construction team in liaising with technical consultants;
  • Act as point of contact and first line of support for environmental proposal and project managers and teams.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and evaluation of qualified personnel for projects, particularly key environmental persons at the proposal stage.
  • Supervise the effective implementation of the environmental and sustainable development audit program and, if necessary, carry out audits and issue reports (including for LEED and EnVision ).


Skills and Qualifications:


  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the field on proposals, large and complex projects related to infrastructure, transportation, civil projects such as metro, light rail, tunnels, bridges, including in a PPP environment .
  • Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in environmental planning, geography, geotechnics or other related discipline;
  • Knowledge of the Federal Impact Assessment Act, the Federal Environmental Protection Act and the Federal Fisheries Act and all relevant federal and provincial environmental policies, procedures and legislation;
  • EnVision and LEED registrations (being a recognized auditor/verifier is an asset)
  • Experience in implementing and managing environmental management systems compliant with ISO 14001;
  • Experience of successful collaborations with other specialized consultants, contractors and government authorities;
  • Experience in effectively training and coaching professionals to further expand their knowledge, skills and abilities in the field.
