The Battery Technician, reporting to the Operations Manager, is responsible for dismantling, sorting, and processing batteries.

Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  2. Sorts batteries by chemistry, size, shape, and construction according to safe work procedures.
  3. Prepares batteries for processing.
  4. Collection, segregation, accumulation, packaging, and labeling of hazardous waste.
  5. Prepares proper labeling and packaging.
  6. Fills containers according to procedures, closes containers, and keeps containers closed when not in use.
  7. Moves containers to storage areas.
  8. Prepares containers of hazardous waste for shipment.
  9. Cleans up spills promptly and removes the residue in a manner approved by the Operations Manager.
  10. Responsible for following safe work procedures.
  11. Completes logs and production records.
  12. Operates industrial and process machinery in a safe manner.
  13. Operates forklift trucks, skid-steer loaders, and industrial sweepers as required.
  14. Required to periodically and safely use hand or power tools for the maintenance and adjustment of process equipment.
  15. Works in conjunction with contractors cleaning process tanks and installing new equipment.
  16. Must be physically and mentally fit to perform all tasks and troubleshooting procedures.
  17. Wears proper PPE as required.
  18. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Frequently lift 10-40 pounds individually, and over 40 pounds with a team member.
  2. Forklift experience.
  3. Basic electrical experience.
  4. Ability to operate machinery.
  5. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  6. Attention to detail.
  7. Teamwork and communication skills.

Education And Training Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
