Old Toronto Ontario, CA Collage HR Full time

Being one of the larger privately-owned construction companies in North America, Reliance offers general contracting services in all aspects of project planning, execution and delivery. Over the last year, we’ve grown continuously due to our employees’ performance, but mostly through their passion, focus, and determination. This expansion however has not let us forget that we are still a family-owned company established in 1948. Our presence in the construction industry over more than half a century has led us to an unparalleled understanding of the industry, allowing us to provide our clients with a sense of complete trust and confidence. They rely on us to complete a project they’ve envisioned, and we accept that responsibility to make it a reality.

The Role: Site Coordinator

The Site Coordinator’s main role is assisting the Project Superintendent in the administration of the project's site activities, such as controlling and maintaining site logs, updating documentation and shop drawing control system, ensuring the smooth flow of information between the design team, consultants, and contractors, and assisting in coordinating the efforts of all other project staff assigned to the site, as applicable.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Develop, implement and control a tracking system for all site logs including daily logs, deliveries, deficiency logs, placement logs (concrete and reinforcing), progress photos, and safety reports/checklists.
  2. Coordinate and schedule project site meetings with Reliance staff, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders, as applicable.
  3. Develop and implement a system that ensures the project’s site staff has access to all current contract documents, including trade contracts, project drawings and specifications (this system should include ready access to all superseded documents).
  4. Assist the Project Superintendent in updating progress and forecasting documents for placement of structural components and building enclosure systems including colour coding of floor plans and elevations to track/forecast progress.
  5. Assist in the preparation and distribution of the site’s daily logs.
  6. Photograph, catalogue and distribute the construction progress on a weekly basis.
  7. Supervise design of temporary construction facilities and ensure preparation of “as built” drawings and other job plans.
  8. Assist subordinate construction Engineers and Superintendents in interpreting design drawings, monitoring equipment installation and planning for delivery of construction materials and equipment.
  9. Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data to assist and advise on-site.
  10. Administer assigned subcontracts.
  11. Coordinate with the Project Superintendent on activities affecting the contract administration operation.
  12. Administer subcontract changes and interfaces with client personnel.
  13. Review and/or supervise, as assigned, the preparation of construction estimates, cost engineering studies, schedules and budgets.

What You’ll Need:

  1. Degree in Architecture, an Engineering or Scientific discipline, or specialized courses in Construction Management or equivalent experience and training.
  2. Progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering or architectural design but may include other relevant types of engineering including start-up and field engineering.
  3. Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost scheduling and/or contract administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes.
  4. Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved including current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
  5. Ability to determine priority of assignments based on critical deadlines.
  6. Ability to resolve field-initiated questions.
  7. Written and oral communication skills.
  8. Must possess computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (experience with project management software an asset).

What We’ll Offer You:

  1. Collaborative but challenging work environment.
  2. Early departure on Fridays for summer months.
  3. Prime office location in Toronto downtown area.
