Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a Senior GIS Consultant based in Ottawa, who will focus on enterprise GIS solutions. In this role, you will leverage your knowledge and experience in leading the business analysis and implementation of enterprise GIS solutions based on Esri technology. As a Senior GIS Consultant, you will contribute to the ongoing business operations of the company by effectively providing professional services for assigned consulting projects.


Senior GIS Consultant responsibilities include:

  • Work in a collaborative team analyzing customer issues and developing solutions focused on GIS strategic planning, information management and governance, organizational design, application rationalization and GIS business process optimization.
  • Provide expertise in the user needs analysis, estimation, design, development, and implementation of enterprise GIS solutions.
  • Chart existing business processes to define current business activities for the development of procedures and models.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develop strategize for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Prototype new procedures for enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in production systems across the organization.
  • Work with other consultants in the design and delivery of client solutions from conception to completion.
  • Scope projects and assist the Project Manager in developing complete project SOW and project plans for all assigned projects.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes, and other pre/post-implementation support.
  • Model client requirements and define functional specifications.
  • Actively engage the sales team to advance the value proposition of Consulting with current and prospective customers.
  • Support pre-sales and post-sales activities related to technical aspects of Esri products.
  • Actively participate in the preparation of proposals (e.g., RFPs, RFIs and RFQs).


Specific skill requirements:

  • 8+ years’ experience in business analysis/consulting in the GIS industry.
  • 8+ years’ experience with Esri’s GIS products (ArcGIS)
  • Experience in implementing enterprise GIS solutions, and integrating Esri technology with other enterprise systems
  • Experience in technical analysis of requirements, facilitating discussions, and leading workshops
  • Able to collect, manage, analyze, model, and present spatially relevant information.
  • University degree in GIS, geomatics, computer science, engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Able to obtain a Government Security Screening Top Secret Clearance (Level III)

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to establish and manage an effective consulting relationship with corporate customers

  • Esri Technical Certifications
  • Experience working in technical presales
  • Experience in remote sensing

Le consultant SIG principal devra :

  • Travailler en équipe pour analyser les problèmes des clients et développer des solutions axées sur la planification stratégique des SIG, la gestion et la gouvernance de l’information, la conception organisationnelle, la rationalisation des applications et l’optimisation des processus d’affaires SIG.
  • Fournir une expertise en matière d’analyse des besoins des utilisateurs, ainsi qu’en évaluation, en conception, en développement et en mise en œuvre de solutions d’entreprise SIG.
  • Cartographier les processus d’affaires existants afin de délimiter les activités opérationnelles actuelles et d’élaborer des procédures et des modèles.
  • Étudier, observer et analyser l’efficacité et l’efficience des processus existants et élaborer des stratégies pour les améliorer davantage ou mieux en tirer parti.
  • Créer un prototype des nouvelles procédures afin d’améliorer les processus d’affaires, les activités et le traitement des informations.
  • Préparer et présenter des rapports, des recommandations et des solutions de rechange visant à améliorer les processus liés aux systèmes de production de l’organisation.
  • Participer à toutes les étapes de la conception et du déploiement des solutions clients avec la collaboration d’autres conseillers.
  • Établir la portée des projets et aider le responsable de projet à rédiger des énoncés de travaux et des plans exhaustifs pour les projets assignés.
  • Coordonner et effectuer des tests approfondis, y compris des examens de l’utilisateur final pour les processus modifiés et nouveaux, ainsi que d’autres tests réalisés avant et après le déploiement.
  • Modéliser les besoins des clients et définir les spécifications fonctionnelles.
  • Travailler activement avec l’équipe de vente à bonifier la proposition de valeur aux clients actuels et potentiels en ce qui concerne les services-conseils;
  • Soutenir les activités relatives aux aspects techniques des produits Esri, avant ou après la vente.
  • Participer activement à la préparation de documents de vente comme des réponses aux demandes d’information et des soumissions.


Formation, expérience et aptitudes nécessaires

  • Plus de 8 ans d’expérience en analyse d’affaires et services-conseils dans le secteur des SIG.
  • Plus de 8 ans d’expérience des produits SIG d’Esri (ArcGIS)
  • Expérience dans la mise en œuvre de solutions SIG d’entreprise et dans l’intégration de la technologie Esri avec d’autres systèmes d’entreprise
  • Expérience dans l’analyse technique des besoins, l’animation de discussions et la direction d’ateliers
  • Capacité de collecter, gérer, analyser, modéliser et présenter des renseignements pertinents sur le plan spatial.
  • Diplôme universitaire en SIG, en géomatique, en informatique ou en génie, ou formation et expérience équivalentes.
  • Capacité d’obtenir une cote de sécurité du gouvernement de niveau « Très secret » (niveau III)
