About SoilFLO:
Based out of Toronto, SoilFLO is a fast-growing tech startup on a mission to transform earthmoving in construction.
Our B2B software manages the movement of construction materials across projects (think highways, housing, and subway tunnels) by replacing outdated, paper-based processes with intuitive digital solutions. Today, SoilFLO is used to track millions of cubic meters of construction material across hundreds of sites.
Since launching in 2019, we’ve become Canada’s market leader and are now expanding internationally (USA & UK) to meet growing demand.
As part of this growth, we are in search of a leader to build the foundation of our company and product marketing.

The Opportunity
This role is high-impact. You will play a key part in making SoilFLO a category leader both locally and internationally.
As the first official marketing hire, you will be responsible for shaping the marketing strategy and department.
In the next 1-2 years, the main focus of the role will be on product marketing. However, we do expect the hire to be involved with growth and content marketing as they will be the sole marketing person. We view the split of work as the following:
- Product Marketing (60%): refining our messaging, positioning, sales enablement materials, and feature launches
- Growth Marketing (20%): supporting our marketing agency to generate new leads through various marketing channels (online ads, SEO, tradeshows)
- Content Marketing (20%): developing basic content to expand our reach (email campaigns, blogs, social)
In the longer term (1.5+ years), there is the opportunity to evolve into the Marketing Director. You will be responsible for hiring marketers into SoilFLO while overseeing larger campaigns and budgets.

What You’ll Do
- Product Marketing Strategy - Gain a deep understanding of our audience in each market, develop our positioning and messaging, and communicate about the product and its benefits to our audience.
- Sales Enablement - Arm our sales and customer success team with messaging to speak to specific customer segments
- Launches - Plan and execute product launches from strategy to messaging, promotion, and measurement; collaborate with product, sales, and CS.
- Lifecycle marketing - Create content and messaging for email drip campaigns throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Content strategy - We want to become the destination for learning about material and earthworks management. We will use SEO to acquire users. You’ll work with contractors and future content marketing hires to make this happen.
We think you'll be an amazing fit for this position if your application can demonstrate:
- Marketing experience: At least five (5) years of marketing experience, with a focus, or coming from product marketing
- Industry or business model experience: A strong track record of developing and executing B2B SaaS go-to-market strategies.
- Experience setting marketing strategy AND executing: You’re able to balance strategic vision and operational excellence, from setting high-level team strategy to getting in the weeds planning launches and doing competitive research. This is an early-stage startup and you will be doing both.
- Product marketing depth: With core competencies in positioning, messaging, and product launches
- Marketing breadth: You are a macro-level thinker who understands marketing strategy and how product, content, and growth marketing work together to drive revenue.
- Writing ability: You’ve written short-form and long-form content, and can point to examples of your writing.
- High-quality bar: You've developed marketing strategies and tactics that put the customer first while hitting growth goals at the same time.
- Interest in our product/mission-aligned/values-aligned: Knowledge of growing B2B saas platforms or a strong desire to learn about these topics quickly.
- Goal setting & prioritization: You know how to set both short-term goals and long-term goals that are used for prioritization and focused on impact.
- Influencing stakeholders: You have a proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders at different authority levels and successfully implementing your ideas
