The Opportunity:

We are changing the way people buy and service cars one dealership at a time. In business for over 30 years, PBS is the third largest DMS (Dealership Management System) provider to the North American retail automotive industry. Each month we welcome hundreds of new users to our software platform, and we need your help.

We are unique in the industry because we view our customers as business partners, technology innovators, and friends. Our software can run all aspects of an automotive dealership with sales, service, inventory management, and accounting modules.

The Role:

PBS is looking to hire a Financial Accountant that will be an integral part of our growing team. This role is responsible for working closely with the Business line to ensure financial statements accuracy, including both the Income Statement and Balance Sheet. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, be able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment and show strong leadership skills.

This position is based in our Calgary Head Office and is NOT a remote or Hybrid opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reports for leadership team, including monthly Operations Income Statements
  • Provides financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information. Advises departments on the collection and analysis of data and performs budget variance analysis
  • Reconcile monthly customer, hardware and software inventory accounts
  • Reconcile Fixed Asset Continuity schedules and assist with year-end tax schedules
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial controls
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, and work with team to implement solutions.
  • Provide coaching and training for junior staff members
  • Document all accounting procedures and controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, business administration, or a related field
  • Completion of, or progressing towards, a CPA designation (with expected completion within 1 year) and/or chartered accountant designation obtained abroad.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a demonstrated level of increasing responsibilities, including 2+ years of experience in Canadian-Controlled Private Corporation (CCPC)
  • Proven experience with full cycle accounting, financial statement preparation and analysis, and account reconciliations
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment with strong attention to detail
  • Self-directed with the ability to show initiative and take responsibility
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook); intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is required
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to handle high volumes and multiple priorities in a professional, courteous manner while meeting strict deadlines
