On behalf of our client, a progressive entrepreneurial publicly listed company, we are looking for a self-directed, self-motivated Finance Manager / Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for all financial accounting and related activities to assist with large-scale growth.

This position will appeal to someone looking for varied tasks and the opportunity to grow and learn. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this person will be exposed to challenging and varied responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans

· Work with the CFO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships as well as assisting in the development and negotiation of contracts

· Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all expenditures may pass independent and governmental audits

· Provide the client company with an operating budget

· Prepare quarterly and annual reports

· Work with the client to ensure operational and strategic success through financial analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and ethical requirements. This includes: 1) interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and contractual guidelines, 2) ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel, and 3) monitoring compliance

· Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including financial statement preparation, investor relations communications, legal and regulatory matters, board communication relating to financial and administrative aspects of the company

· Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity for staff

· Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the client. Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with IFRS and federal, provincial and other required supplementary schedules and information.

· Monitor banking activities of the client

· Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the client’s needs

· Investigate cost-effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the organization may offer employees and potential employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified individuals

· Oversee the production of reports including financial statements and cash flow / budget projections for use by Executive management, as well as the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Directors

· Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place

· Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.

· Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets

· Other activities and duties as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Five or more years’ experience in a corporate accounting environment or public accounting position with exposure to publicly traded companies.

· CPA designation

· Strong attention to detail, highly self-motivated and directed and ability to stay focused and accomplish tasks at hand

· High computer literacy with exposure to ERP systems would be an asset

· Good interpersonal and organizational skills including the ability to effectively communicate and interact with the C-suite as well as with remote staff.

· Two years of direct service delivery experience working with technology innovators (preferred)

· Good working knowledge of ASPE and IFRS and Internal Control processes

· Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and MS Office skills

· Ability to foster and cultivate business relationships, opportunities and partnerships
