Position Summary

The Director of Clinical Management is accountable for the delivery of quality care and service to clients and ensures compliance with internal and external professional practice standards. This role supervises Clinical Managers who oversee regulated and unregulated field employees.

Actively manages client’s needs, contract requirements, company policy compliance, and financial objectives. The Director of Clinical Management leads the development of clinical programs.


Primary Responsibilities

  1. Oversee all clinical activities being delivered by the branch. Ensure adherence to all clinical policies by branch and field staff.
  2. Provide guidance to Clinical Managers as requested or needed to ensure compliance with all relevant federal and provincial legislated standards of professional practice as well as internal policies.
  3. Liaise with referring agencies and clients as necessary and ensure that identified client concerns and complaints are satisfactorily addressed and documented in a timely manner.
  4. Lead the implementation of client satisfaction initiatives.
  5. Demonstrate current knowledge of Standards of Practice guidelines of Provincial regulating body.
  6. Liaise with Provincial regulating body as required.
  7. Manage the employee lifecycle of Clinical Managers (direct reports), Nursing Supervisors as appropriate; interpret and implement relevant policies. May assist with the recruitment and selection of Administrative and Supervisory employees as requested.
  8. Collaborate with HR/Health and Safety for the implementation of modified work programs for Field employees and office employees.
  9. Ensure that orientation and in-service programs are conducted for Clinical Managers/ Nursing Supervisors; guide the development of continuing education and training programs for Clinical Managers, Nursing Supervisors and licensed employees as appropriate.
  10. Assist the Area Director with the development and writing of Proposals and Contractual Agreements for service delivery.
  11. Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical programs; participate in the review and/or development of clinical nursing policies and procedures as appropriate.
  12. Assist the Area Director with the development, implementation and evaluation of the annual business and marketing plans; participate in marketing initiatives as appropriate.
  13. Coordinate and lead quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives related to client care in keeping with the company’s Quality Management System; lead internal auditing activities.
  14. Promote Bayshore Home Health through participation in local healthcare, business committees and community events.
  15. Complete all required weekly, monthly and annual reports.
  16. Assume responsibility for Branch Office operations in the absence of the Area Director.
  17. Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
  18. Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures.
  19. Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System.
  20. Promote and participate in proactive Health & Safety activities. Responsible for completing Incident/Accident Reports within 24 hours for any direct report who may sustain injury.
  21. Complete other tasks as requested.

Job Qualification

Education

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, preferably with a Bachelor of Nursing degree; current registration (in good standing) with the provincial regulating body.

Current CPR Certification.


Experience

At least five (5) years of recent experience with progressive responsibility as a Manager of Clinical Practice/ Clinical Manager, preferably in a community setting. Strong track record in leading the development and evaluation of clinical training programs; demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of human resources and integrate company policies and procedures; experience in business development is preferred.

Internal candidates must have a demonstrated track record of achievement as a Manager of Clinical Practice or as a Field Registered Nurse and have consistently shown above average initiative.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner; ability to work independently and effectively lead a team; demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and related software such as Windows; commitment to continual learning; above average report writing and communication skills.

Solid knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of community nursing and service delivery to clients as well as the principles of program development, implementation and evaluation. Successful internal candidates must complete a six month probationary period specific to the Director of Clinical Management position.

For Quebec only, bilingualism is required, but will be considered an asset in other provinces and territories.


Other Requirements

Must have, or be willing to obtain a negative TB test, clear criminal background check, including a vulnerable sector screening.

Valid driver’s license and applicable auto insurance required.
