Our growing company is looking for a motivated Project Manager to be part of the Company Operations Department. This role will suite best for an individual who Mechanical Engineering or Controls Engineering credentials with previous project management experience. Preference will be given to candidates with PMP, P.Eng. or equivalent credentials. The suitable candidate will have proven HVAC design knowledge, project management, construction management experience.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Project Manager directs, manages and allocates resources for company’s Design Team and Technical team, consisting of Project Engineers, Project Designers, CAD operators, Control System programmers and start up System Specialist. The Project Manager will work closely with Operations Manager in manpower and resource planning while assigning projects to Project Engineers and allocating appropriate resources (i.e. Systems Specialist, Technicians and Designers) to company’s projects.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages and plans the labor requirements for Company’s Engineering and Technical Team including but not limited to Engineering, System Design, DDC System Programming and Graphics and System Start Up to ensure on time and on budget completion of all projects.
  • Assigns Tasks and allocates resources to Project Engineers, Technical System Specialist, and tracks deliverables of all projects
  • Reviews and establish measurable goals for time required to complete System engineering, programming, graphics and start up task completion
  • Implement Company’s process improvements policies and standards of the engineering, system programming and start up process to improve quality, productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Ensures that all projects are done accurately, on-time, within budget and within scope of the contract.
  • Arranges for training and mentorship of the System Engineers, Designers and Technicians as necessary.
  • Reviews and interprets contract terms and conditions and assists assigned Systems Engineers and System Specialists with site coordination tasks with projects of higher complexity including such tasks as representing Olympic Controls at site coordination meetings.
  • Coordinating onsite technical labor requirements with Installation team and resolve conflict (i.e. job chargeable activities). Assists the Installation team in evaluating the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives and/or scheduling changes.
  • Direct subcontract System Design Engineering, Programming and/or start up work for Project where resources are outsourced.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors.

Required qualifications & competencies:

  • Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electronics or Computer Engineering or Master of Engineering in related field. PMP credentials preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in working as a Project Manager in the construction industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC system design and operations
  • 3+ years of professional experience in HVAC or related fields
  • Experience with construction environment and project management
  • Self-motivated, driven, detailed oriented and well organized.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced business environment.
