About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to enhance our Portfolios safety protocols and major accident prevention across our Plant. You will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing a comprehensive safety framework, working closely with risk owners to identify, understand, and mitigate potential threats. This full-time, permanent position can be based at our Hamilton, Huntly, or Tokaanu sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a robust process safety framework aligned with Genesis' Risk Management, Safety and Wellness Management, and Wholesale Operations Process Safety Management Systems.
  • Assist Site Maintenance, Operational, and Engineering teams in understanding and managing critical safety risks.
  • Support risk owners in identifying and documenting potential threats and failure modes that could lead to generation loss or other risks.
  • Participate in front-end engineering and design (FEED) processes to ensure process safety is integrated from the project inception.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating risk controls and mitigations using methodologies such as QRA's and Bowties, ensuring existing controls are adequate.
  • Develop and prioritize a Risk Reduction Programme focused on high-risk exposures, outlining specific tasks, timelines, and accountabilities.
  • Provide expert advice and direction on safety-critical risks to risk owners.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies like WorkSafe to meet legislative requirements.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and share learnings from critical safety risks.

About you:

We are looking for someone with experience in operational process safety roles combined with proficiency with Risk Management procedures. You'll need proficiency in risk management processes and incident investigation methodologies like ICAM. A degree in engineering with a specialization in process safety or a similar qualification is also essential.
