We are currently searching for a Senior Manager, Credit Risk Adjudication & Policy to join our team in our Corporate Office in our Toronto location.


This role requires an onsite presence.


The Senior Manager, Credit Risk Adjudication & Policy is responsible for the review and adjudication of all commercial and corporate deals submitted for approval by Underwriting. The incumbent is also responsible for articulating, documenting and maintaining Credit Policies and Guidelines and plays a pivotal role in managing Credit Risk in accordance with these Policies and Guidelines. In addition, the incumbent supports other Credit Risk Management activities e.g. Risk Reporting and Credit file Review etc. as required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • effective challenge of in-depth loan analysis/underwriting due diligence performed by the underwriting team ensuring a well-reasoned approval is in place.
  • commercial/corporate loans to make sound lending decisions, including and not limited to new loans, renewal loans, reviews, change of loan conditions, and any other relevant applications according to established Bank Policies and Guidelines.
  • a solution-focused approach to adjudication by offering alternative structures and/or funding conditions as appropriate.
  • review, and revise credit policies in accordance with the Bank’s strategic goals and objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements for facilitating sound lending practices and mitigating credit risk.
  • detailed credit guidelines outlining the systematic processes for credit underwriting, evaluation, adjudication and approval, account monitoring etc.; define clear underwriting criteria for evaluating creditworthiness of borrowers; outline the hierarchy of authority for credit approvals, including the types of decisions that require approval at different levels.
  • that all credit policies and guidelines adhere to regulatory and industry standards and adequately address potential credit risks associated with the Bank’s lending activities.


Skills/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field
  • Relevant professional certifications, designations or equivalent education preferred
  • At least 3 to 5 years of work experience in Commercial, Corporate Credit and /or credit risk management or a related role in the banking industry
  • Relevant experience in articulating Credit Policies and Procedures
  • Solid understanding of Commercial banking and Syndicated Loans, including a strong understanding of credit agreements, deal structures, loan funding mechanics, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk analysis, financial statement analysis, cash flow, lending principles and regulatory expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with credit scoring models and relevant software tools for documentation and data analysis is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across the Bank
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage and take ownership of numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
