Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team. You will be responsible for educating and nurturing primary-grade students, both 1-1 and in small groups. This role requires working in students' homes and across various sites in Richmond and Vancouver, so independence and competence in working alone are crucial. Additionally, this position offers the opportunity for career advancement into a managerial role within Gabby's Classroom. This post requires the Elementary Teacher to engage in consultation work and support for families applying to independent schools, guiding them through the application process and ensuring all family members are prepared for school interviews and in-house assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging, effective lessons tailored to individual students and small groups.
* Implement the BC curriculum effectively, guiding personalized learning provisions.
* Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
* Create a positive, inclusive learning environment in students' homes and various educational sites.
* Develop and utilize student learning plans to enhance academic achievement.
* Independently manage and adapt teaching strategies in different settings.
* Write curriculum materials and ensure they meet the needs of our students.
* Liaise with families to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
* Support families to apply to independent school through application guidance and interview preparation.
* Educational consultation work to prepare families for independent school.
Leadership and Growth Opportunities:
* Mentor and support tutors to improve classroom practices and professional development.
* Identify new business opportunities and assist in promoting Gabby's Classroom externally.
* Receive training and support for future managerial responsibilities within the organization.
Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following skills:
✓ Holds a University Degree (Required)
✓ Holds a Degree in Elementary or High School Education (Required)
✓ Possession of a valid teaching license (license does not need to be specific to BC)
✓ Willing to provide a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (Required)
✓ ESL Certification (Preferred)
✓ Experience with students Grades K-7 in a classroom environment (Required)
✓ Experience with students in high school (Preferred)
✓ Excellent written and oral communication skills in fluent English (Required)
✓ Experience following and creating curriculum plans (Preferred)
✓ Enthusiastic and outgoing personality
✓ Highly organized, flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on varied responsibilities in a small business environment
✓ Willingness to take on a range of administrative tasks
✓ 30 hours per week, spread over 5 days (4 weekday afternoons and evenings, and 1 weekend day).
✓ Ability to work independently and competently in students' homes and various educational sites.
✓ Experience in educational consulting, specifically in guiding families through independent school application processes, including interview preparation and readiness assessments. (Required)
✓ Minimum 2 years teaching experience in an educational setting (Required)
✓ Driving license (Preferred)
