About the Payroll & Benefits Administrator

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator provides support and is typically the first point of contact for employees in matters of time, attendance, and payroll, being responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of payroll functions and group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, travel and accident plan, health savings accounts, retirement plans, etc.). This position provides excellent customer service and monitors/maintains daily payroll and benefits functions.

What You'll Do:

  1. Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
  2. Review weekly and semi-monthly payroll to prepare for the approval process.
  3. Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits information, and update employee payroll records.
  4. Track and monitor employee benefits related leaves of absence.
  5. Present payroll/benefits information at new hire orientation.
  6. Collaborate and assist the HR team with requests, inquiries, and concerns.
  7. Maintain healthy relationships with vendors.
  8. Attend meetings as required/necessary to ensure successful completion of all tasks.
  9. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws.
  10. Special Projects: New HRIS implementation, open enrollment.
  11. All other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  1. Experience with complex multi-state exempt and non-exempt payroll.
  2. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
  3. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  4. Experience with Workday and ADP required.
  5. Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  8. Excellent communication and organization skills.
  9. Ability to work in a startup environment with continuous opportunity to learn and iterate.
  10. Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business, accounting or related field.
  11. 1 year or more of related payroll/benefits experience (specifically with non-exempt hourly population); Payroll certification preferred.
