Assignment Description

The Cenovus Upstream Maintenance & Reliability Process, Performance & Information team is hiring a technical and business-focused Contract SAP Business Analyst. The successful candidate will be working on the Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) SAP Stabilization team to implement efficient SAP best practices of Work Management processes for oil sands operations and prepare for a move to SAP S4 in 2026. This role will report to the M&R SAP Stabilization team and work closely with the Upstream sites.

This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working as an individual and in a team environment, and who demonstrates effective critical thinking, problem-solving and facilitation skills, is adaptable and able to effectively complete deliverables in a timely fashion. This Business Analyst will also utilize standard best practices as required to support the activity execution, and has a key understanding of transition to operations, and development of processes and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience with eliciting business requirements, developing process descriptions and procedural documentation and documenting business standards and policies. The role will focus on business processes within Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and associated business units.

Role Requirements:

  1. Experience working with SAP Plant Maintenance and cross functional technical teams with proven skillset of creating value from interpreting business requirements and translating into training materials and documentation.
  2. Experience with SAP ECC or S/4HANA implementations, including related business processes that are managed using connected applications such as Prometheus Web (Planning & Scheduling and STO) and Primavera P6, among others.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Support implementation of new processes and procedures.
  2. Participate in process reviews (or creation or updating of associated documentation) working with stakeholders and the creation of requirements documentation.
  3. Participate in standards and process creation, reviews, updates, development and documentation.
  4. Develop requirements specifications and business design documentation.
  5. Perform initial Data QA / completeness checks on finalized processes.
  6. Steward completed documents through the approval/sign-off process, including providing background and facilitating clarifying discussions (as required) for reviewers and approvers.
  7. Develop quick reference guides according to standard templates.
  8. Collaborate with team members to progress initiatives forward as per plan and scope outline.
  9. Assist team members to help identify/validate stakeholder change impacts, provide technical review of communications and contribute to training curriculum and learning content.
  10. Elicit requirements using stakeholder engagement, document analysis, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.

Position Requirements:

  1. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  2. At least 2-5 years of professional experience as a SAP Business Analyst or in a similar capacity.
  3. Direct working experience with maintenance or operations.
  4. Oil & Gas/Energy industry experience would be considered an asset.
  5. Organization and relationship building skills.
  6. Displays emotional intelligence; demonstrates self-awareness and remains calm under pressure.
