Cullerton Group has new opportunities for PLC Programmers in Cambridge, ON. The work will be done onsite. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled PLC Programmer with 10-15 years of core industrial automation experience, specializing in Rockwell PLC programming (at least 90% of total experience). This role requires strong expertise in PLC, HMI, SCADA, servo motion control, robotics integration, industrial networking, and database management. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience developing PLC programs from scratch, integrating advanced automation technologies, and working with safety-critical industrial control systems.

Must-Have Skills:

PLC, HMI & SCADA Expertise

  • Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) PLC programming (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) – must have 90%+ experience in Rockwell platforms.
  • Hands-on experience programming PLC systems from scratch for at least one large-scale project.
  • Proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal for PLC development is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in HMI programming and SCADA system configuration (GE iFIX, Indusoft, or similar platforms).
  • Experience in GuardLogix Safety Programming or any other relevant industrial control safety systems.

Motion Control & Robotics Integration

  • Servo motion control experience – must have hands-on experience in Rockwell Kinetix 5700, K5500, K350 drives, and AB Servo Motors.
  • Robotics integration experience – must have worked on at least one major automation project involving Fanuc robots or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting VFDs (e.g., AB PowerFlex70).

Industrial Networking & Database Management

  • Experience working with SQL databases or any relevant industrial database systems.
  • Understanding of industrial Ethernet protocols and communication standards.
  • Hands-on experience with AB Stratix Managed Switches for network setup and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with MES systems and vision system integration in automation processes.

Control Hardware Proficiency

  • Experience with AB CompactLogix/GuardLogix Controllers.
  • Familiarity with Siemens S7 1200, S7 1500 Controllers and Siemens Comfort Panels.
  • Knowledge of AB Panel Plus 7 HMIs and Rockwell/Siemens control hardware.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Keba Motion Drives or equivalent motion control platforms.
  • Knowledge of GE iFIX or Indusoft SCADA platforms.
  • Exposure to AB Kinetix Single Axis Drives (K350), AB Kinetix Servo Drives (K5500), and AB PowerFlex70 VFDs.
  • Understanding of CSA, IEC, or other industry safety standards for automation.
