Who we are
Skjodt-Barrett is a world-class manufacturer of food solutions and custom ingredients for North America's most beloved and trusted brands. We take pride in working closely with our customers to understand their unique needs and create innovative, individualized solutions that deliver joy to their customers.
A family-founded company started over 35 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI). With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.
Our customers, blue-chip international brands and mid-sized producers alike, are why we exist. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are the people who meet their needs, build trust, and exceed their expectations.
Who we need
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, we are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our night shift. You will oversee all activities, navigate and solve issues, and ensure targets are being met in our complex food and ingredient storage facility on a day-to-day basis. You will work in a warehouse that is predominantly set at an ambient temperature but includes a cooler room for tempering ingredients and a freezer section. You will lead the team of 6-8 individuals, onboarding and training new employees and cross-training others.
This is a salaried position, working 11 pm to 7 am Monday to Friday at our cutting-edge facility in Brampton, ON.
Who you are
You are an experienced team lead or shift supervisor with experience in food safety. You are a great communicator who is detail-oriented and can recognize, anticipate and respond to issues. You want to bring your best practices to foster a safe and efficient environment.
What's in it for you
Knowledge. You want a high-impact role at an organization with an international presence and a growing market share. You will gain insights into the supply chain and materials handling and storage requirements for food products.
Stability. You want to be part of an established organization with brand-name clients and a plan for increasing operations. You want to work in a safe environment with long, incident-free streaks and the education, guidelines, and processes that prioritize the well-being of their warehouse and plant teams.
Career development. At Skjodt-Barrett, we value your drive to bring ideas to life and your resilience in being accountable for your actions. We have a proven track record of supporting our employees' professional development and career growth. Whether you're interested in demand planning, supply chain management, or exploring other areas of the business, we are committed to supporting your growth and helping you achieve your career goals.
How you will make an impact:
- Supervise warehouse operations. You will manage all warehouse activities, ensuring they are completed promptly and in accordance with plant policies and procedures. This includes overseeing the movement of frozen materials to and from cold storage, managing daily inbound transfers from cold storage, and supervising the tempering of frozen materials. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining shipping and receiving schedules.
- Adhere to DOMR – Destruction of Material Request process. You will ensure relevant material is picked and placed into the scrap trailer in a timely manner.
- Take inventory. You will execute the daily and monthly cycle counts. You will assist with material variance investigations, adjustments, and the end-of-year inventory audit. You will support key stakeholders with material or system investigations.
- Manage the team. You will conduct regular employee performance reviews. You will train and coach warehouse employees to improve performance. You will be responsible for scheduling shifts, including workstation assignments/rotations, new employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, and backup for absent employees.
- Collaborate. You will complete an end-of-shift report, documenting the tasks completed and updating the incoming supervisor on any issues encountered and resolutions applied. You will have access to the Inventory Supervisor and a Warehouse Coordinator for support. You will supply operations with raw materials and packaging per daily production schedule.
What you bring to the role:
- The experience. You have worked as a shift supervisor in a warehouse environment, preferably in food manufacturing. You have an in-depth understanding of warehouse, distribution, and inventory processes. You have a safety-first mindset and are familiar with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) system, food safety standards and hazardous materials handling practices in food production and storage. You are curious and action-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills. You can balance competing demands and shift priorities in response to changing inventory and production demands.
- The technical skills. You have strong analytical skills and can manipulate and draw conclusions from data. You understand temperature and weight measures. You are proficient in Microsoft Office.
- The team management. You have a proven ability to lead and manage a team, including scheduling, approving time cards, and providing training and development opportunities. You are genuinely interested in understanding others, resolving conflict, removing roadblocks, and encouraging high-quality results. You are comfortable having difficult discussions around performance and expectations. You foster a culture of safety and knowledge sharing. You hold yourself and your team highly accountable for their work. You are always ready to step up to different daily challenges.
- The interpersonal skills. You have professional verbal and written communication skills. You are a strong collaborator who can work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Why join?

It's what drives us to make great-tasting, convenient, and healthy ingredients and finished products that our customers depend on. Benefits and perks we offer include comprehensive health, dental, paramedical and long term disability.
With paid vacation time starting at 15 days per year, paid sick time, and more, we want to ensure our employees feel supported and appreciated.
