The IT Support Specialist at FirstService Residential is a key technical role dedicated to maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the company’s computer hardware and related systems. This position goes beyond routine ticket resolution, involving active participation in IT projects that enhance our infrastructure and service delivery. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Hardware Installation & Configuration:
  • Install, configure, and deploy computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Set up and configure operating systems, software applications, and hardware drivers.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of network devices, such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Conduct routine maintenance and performance checks on hardware to ensure optimal operation.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues, providing timely support to end-users.
  • Perform hardware upgrades and repairs, coordinating with external vendors when necessary.
  • Project Involvement:
  • Participate in IT projects that involve hardware migrations, upgrades, and new technology rollouts.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to plan and execute technology refresh initiatives that improve system performance and user experience.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IT strategies that align with company goals and enhance service delivery.
  • Technical Support & User Assistance:
  • Provide exceptional technical support to employees, both on-site and remotely, addressing hardware and peripheral issues.
  • Educate users on proper hardware usage and troubleshooting basic issues.
  • Maintain and update the inventory of IT hardware, ensuring accurate asset tracking and management.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Document hardware installations, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for hardware management.
  • User Training:
  • Conduct training sessions for end-users on proper hardware usage, new systems, and troubleshooting basic issues.
  • Develop and update training materials, ensuring they are accessible and user-friendly.
  • Provide ongoing support to users, helping them adapt to new hardware and systems.
Education & Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in IT hardware support or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating system, with a basic understanding of networking principles.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies
  • Strong technical skills in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Experience in conducting user training and creating training materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with effective time management.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transport computer hardware and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including office settings and data centers.
