We are looking for an experienced Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Management System Coordinator. What will you be doing

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring CNL Port Hope project and Contractor integrated safety programs, plans, practices, and management systems.
  • Supporting field level OSH project delivery teams monitor compliance with CNL OSH expectations in a more integrated programmatic perspective.
  • Developing, maintaining and communicating OSH, or other HSSE, program performance metrics, track compliance to various program elements, and support the completion of formal and informal program oversight activity.
  • Assisting with corrective action follow up, documentation and helping ensure timely follow-through on the implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Providing support and assistance in the development, implementation and monitoring of OSH programs, plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Completing monitoring and updating of OSH programs to ensure OSH legislative and license requirements are continuously met.
  • Providing support monitoring of Port Hope, or assigned mission specific, OSH performance through helping maintain OSH and contractor assurance scorecard, ISN and other available tasks specific performance data.
  • Supporting continuous safety and process improvement initiatives by completing program and legislative gap assessments, internal compliance gap assessments, process reviews, identifying practical solutions to close gaps, creating change plans and working collaboratively with CNL and contractor personnel to implement improvement actions.
  • Assisting with development and coordination of program roll-out plans for new and updated corporate programs.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and communicating process and safety programs, while managing performance through various reports and scorecards to capture leading and lagging indicator program and project performance.
  • Supporting project wide safety and process improvement related communications and implementation of applicable best-practices, OPEX, or ImpAct actions based on shared incident lessons learned.
  • Collaboratively interacting with colleagues and project personnel team members to help identify OSH program improvement opportunities.
  • Preparing detailed reports and follow up on program performance matters through data analytics & visualization.
  • Documenting and recording safety and process data pertaining to project oversight activity including entering/transcribing oversights information and follow through on various internal CNL information recordkeeping established procedures.
  • Supporting when assigned and leading the planning and implementation of process improvement initiatives throughout assigned missions.
  • Supporting the Performance Assurance specialist with Impact processing and data Management activities where required.
  • Assisting with monitoring, analyzing, assessing, and facilitating the implementation of corrective actions, when required.
  • Sharing relevant internal and external operational experience and lessons learned with the team.
  • Fostering and promoting a culture of continual improvement.
  • Providing timely customer service with credible and expert response to support requests.
  • Preparing detailed reports and follow up on recommended corrective actions associated with completed compliance & oversight reports, incident reports, observations, and root-cause analysis recommendations when required.
  • Entering/transcribing oversight information in CNL’s various recordkeeping and safety management systems information according to set, and or, stablished requirements.
  • Following CNL’s Information Protection policy and maintain discretion and confidentiality when applicable.
  • Undertaking and successfully completing various CNL internal training programs relevant to this position.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education
  • College or university education in a recognized science, applied science, social science, or related field is preferable. OR
  • Mix of various courses, program certificates, or other forms of education, coursework, or training that showcases the necessary baseline understanding and knowledge to demonstrate skillsets related to role responsibilities can apply.
Experience
  • At least one to three (1-3) years of experience working and interacting within the OSH profession in an equivalent or similar role within a nuclear, research & technology, construction, manufacturing, industrial processing, mining, oil & gas, or industrial industry.
  • Experience within a radiation safety and/or protection setting is an asset, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Foundational knowledge about maintaining program details, tracking and monitoring compliance metrics, and developing program compliance tracking documentation.
  • Ability to develop program assessment checklists and auditing documents referencing and utilizing existing programs and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills – written and oral - and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional ability to solve problems through soft and hard analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with and learn various software applications such as Microsoft office, SharePoint, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and respond with initiative.
  • Able to present recommendations, complete regulatory reporting, and technical writing in a clear and effective manner.
  • Understanding of core Human Performance principles.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables and task pressures.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions

  • Combination of office based and field level work, including work outdoors in inclement weather and temperatures ranging from +30C to -40C.
  • Prolonged periods of sedentary office work when preparing reports and other documents.
  • Operational and decommissioning environments - i.e., laboratories, workshops, offices, construction sites, open fields, other sites.
  • May be required to perform overtime.
  • Work in both radiologically active and non-active environments.

CNL’s Historic Waste Program Management Office is in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope , Ontario. Roughly 100kms East of Toronto, still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City”.
