The Role: Land Surveying CAD Technologist
Egis Surveying Inc, with its complement of experienced professional surveyors and technical staff, provides Professional Survey Services of all types, tailored to the client’s needs. We provide legal retracements in the form of Plans of Survey, Reference/Expropriation Plans, SRPRs, Plans of Subdivision and Condominium; as well as Topographic Surveys featuring LiDAR Scanning, precision control and construction layout, and any other survey services required by our many public and private clients.
Our growing Survey Group is looking for a Land Surveying CAD Technologist to join the team in our Ottawa or Perth, ON office working in a hybrid environment. If you have a willingness to work in a flexible and challenging environment, with a group of energetic and ambitious professionals, who value efficiency, integrity and profitability, and are willing to drive change to benefit the group, we encourage you to apply.
The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:
- Completion of a College diploma in Survey Engineering Technician, Architecture Technician, Civil Engineering Technician or any other relevant technical training; is an asset;
- An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements;
- Must have a strong attention to detail;
- Preference will be given to applicants with survey calculations experience, but on-the-job training will be provided;
- Working knowledge of MSCAD, Trimble Business Centre, AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office programs is essential;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Detail-oriented with an ability to think through problems creatively;
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing field data and performing least squares analysis adjustments;
- Performing survey calculations from both GPS and conventional survey methods;
- Generating boundary surveys, surveyor’s real property reports, topographic surveys, reference plans, strata reference plans, subdivision plans, condominium plans, subdivision design;
- Ensuring that the quality and accuracy of all plans for which you have responsibility for, meet the Egis corporate standards before they are delivered for checking;
- Interpreting standards from regulatory bodies.
