The Race Director for CRS West is the quarterback of the CRS west team. The successful candidate will represent the west team through interactions with the City, key stakeholders, vendors, suppliers, partners, volunteers, event staff, and the run community at large both digitally and face-to-face and exude excitement and passion for elevating the event experiences we curate. They will have strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational and logistical skills and will act as the face and voice of CRS West.

A successful candidate will possess varied skills and experience in:

  • Proficiency and strong technological skills for multiple online platforms (Office365, Freshdesk, Slack, and Asana).
  • Strong English language verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and execution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping others and building the communities we run through.
  • Event operations, logistics, warehousing and course management
  • Project management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the CRS West Operational Budget as well as overseeing and supporting the Project Manager with the overall CRS West Event Budgets.
  • Represent CRS West in leadership calls and provide updates on all areas of CRS West Events.
  • Establish and implement CRS West goals, objectives and procedures with the executive members.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the CRS West Office and Warehouse Space
  • Manage CRS West employees and contractors unless they are confirmed with a different reporting structure
  • In conjunction with the Community and Stakeholder Specialist, develop and maintain, positive, partnering relationships with key stakeholders (sponsors, athletes, venues, media, City, etc.).
  • Spokesperson for CRS West Events and Interview Requests or delegate.
  • Creation and maintenance of CRS West Operational plans, including but not limited to: production schedules, site plans and maps.
  • Responsible for the start and finish line planning, staffing and execution.
  • Responsible for all technical aspects of the race course(s) for CRS West events, including but not limited to traffic management and police, marshals, water stations, course measurement, certification and sanctioning, event permitting and waste management plans.
  • Responsible for the communication of road closure and event impact to all major stakeholders, the public and those impacted by the event.
  • Responsible for the management of operational budget spending and execution of said budget.
  • Responsible for sourcing and contracting all equipment and supplies related to the event with support from the CRS West team.
  • Responsible for inventory and management of all CRS west owned assets.
  • Responsible for warehouse operations and coordination of delivery of all shipments.
  • Responsible for recruiting, supervising, training, developing and evaluating Operations Event Staff, Logistics Crew, Supervisors and Contractors.
  • Responsible for the fulfillment operations of all CRS west virtual races.
  • Represent CRS to develop a positive, partnering relationship with key stakeholders (Suppliers, Police, City, Parks, etc.).

Working Conditions and Expectations:

  • This is a hybrid role that will usually work 3 days remote and 2 days in person work in the Burnaby, BC office. In person commitment will increase in peak season (June and September) to up to 5 days per week in office.
  • Weekend and evening work is expected as required for events throughout the year.

Experience:

  • Event Planning/Project Management: 5 + years
  • Leadership role 3+ years
  • Logistics and Operations planning at Road Races 5+ years

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Event Management or Business Administration is preferred.
