Responsible for overseeing and leading Payroll delivery teams in the execution of all activities related to payroll and time processes, ensuring compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates with SAP Payroll Support team, Total Rewards COE, IT&S and other business areas to drive continuous improvement in payroll processes and delivery.

  1. Lead and drive the payroll function across the organization, incorporating a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  2. Oversee the execution of all activities related to payroll and time processes, adherence to established controls and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  3. Partner with the Global HR Technology Team, Total Rewards COE, Employee Wellbeing Solutions, and other relevant groups to identify and implement solutions to improve/enhance payroll delivery.
  4. Build and lead a high-performing team, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  5. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring established SLAs are met or exceeded.
  6. Engage in regular communication and build strong relationships to ensure effective delivery of shared services.
  7. Monitor and ensure the accurate and timely administration, remittance and reporting of payroll related activities.
  8. Assist with external and internal (SOX) regulatory governance and requirements.
  9. Act as a subject matter expert on all aspects of payroll, resolving escalated or high risk issues or concerns as required.
  10. Drive and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team and within the Operations group, focusing on transferring learnings and opportunities across the department and leveraging other solutions to enhance efficiency.
  11. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  12. Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations within respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  13. Build a high performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
  1. Post-secondary Degree in Accounting or Business or related field.
  2. PLP or PCP Designation from the National Payroll Institute. Completed or in progress.
  3. Significant experience in payroll or related field.
  4. Experience with SAP, Oracle/PeopleSoft or other large ERP HCM systems.
  5. Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
  6. Strong knowledge of Organizational structure and complexity.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  9. Proven supervisory/leadership experience.
  10. Strong analytical skills.
