We are looking to add a full-time Field and Service Manager - Commercial Services to our team in Toronto.

General Description:

Under general direction of the CEO, this role will be responsible for executing scope of work as per contractual requirements, identifying potential customer related improvements and added value services or products. Foster professional relationships with clients, property management & building staff to ensure customer service excellence.

Characteristics, Features, Requirements:

The Field & Service Manager – Commercial is expected to know and understand the CARMA Quality Manual, CARMA Health and Safety Manual, the Field Orientation Safety and Technical Manual and the CARMA Installation Manual. The Orientation Skills Requirement for all Trainees will be implemented, tests will be performed and graded before orientation training is complete. Critical to these responsibilities, is the requirement to complete assigned tasks successfully and on-time.

Reporting:

The role reports directly to the Vice President of Operations; who will be the training mentor and will monitor and review performance goals and objectives and weekly work schedules. The Field & Service Manager – Commercial Services is required to report as follows, but not limited to:

  • Submit weekly activity & expense reports by 9:00 am Monday each week for the prior week including, service work order reports to the Business Operations Support team.

Important and Essential Duties:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Field and Service Manager – Commercial Services Responsibilities

  • Supervise Toronto (Commercial) Field Technician Team in the day to day operational and technical aspects of multiple small-and large-scale projects;
  • Provide Level 1, 2 and 3 training and coach Toronto Commercial and all newly hired Field Technicians to successfully complete relevant accreditation(s);
  • Participate in project meetings with members of all related teams and identify and assemble project completion schedule for each project;
  • Review and fully comprehend the projects scope of work and specifications to minimize exposure and risk of each project;
  • Update Scheduling spreadsheet weekly or as required;
  • Track project deliverables with the Project Managers;
  • Participate in Employee evaluations and provide dialog on team members strengths, weaknesses and further training requirements;
  • Provide job specific progress updates to internal customers and other stakeholders (electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, engineers, etc.);
  • Perform Utility submeter Commissioning, Installation Verification Inspections and other related work on all Electrical, Water and Gas related projects;
  • Coordinate and ensure S-E-04 project closeout documentation is completed with the Project Managers and timely submission to Head Office;
  • Co-ordinate with Technicians the delivery of Equipment to site and the return of materials from site(s);
  • Communicate with installing contractors regarding installation requirements, equipment deliveries and deficiency corrections, in conjunction with the Project Managers;
  • Manage with the Project Manager(s), the day to day operational and technical aspects of multiple small and large scaled projects;
  • Ensure all S-E-04 and Commissioning documentation have been completed, is reviewed, current, accurate and stored/distributed appropriately;
  • Maintain knowledge of Technicians ability and provide training and support as required;
  • Liaise and work with the Data Analyst team to ensure monthly Commercial reads are obtained in a timely manner;
  • Collaborate on procedural protocols that will lend to a more uniform, accurate and consistent submittal and reporting system of Measurement Canada documentation from the Technical Services Group;
  • Demonstrate in office and on-site interaction with Technical Services Staff, the practical application of all Measurement Canada Rules and Regulations as they pertain to the design, installation and functionality of Carma Submetering Systems;
  • Quotations of generic service calls to customers and submission to Sales team;
  • Communicate and demonstrate to the Technical Services Group the importance of following and enforcing all Measurement Canada Rules and Regulations;
  • Communicate and demonstrate to the Technical Services Group the importance of following and enforcing all Health and Safety protocols/standards;
  • Perform random Technical Services Compliance Audits on all work performed by the Technical Services Group. Communicate Technical, Productivity and Efficiencies issues observed during the Work Audit to Senior Manager(s);
  • Provide annual process improvements/suggestions to better streamline and improve the effectiveness of work flow throughout the department/company.

Experience/Knowledge/Ability

  • Successful completion of the training process including Field Installation Inspection and Verification;
  • The ability to work independently and perform all of the technical requirements found within each of the primary work responsibilities described in the “Important and Essential Duties” section, of this document;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills in conjunction with accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills; ability to multitask and manage demanding workload with tight deadlines;
  • Ability to learn software quickly, advanced computer skills and expertise in spreadsheets, and data manipulation;
  • Demonstrate the practical application of all Measurement Canada Rules and Regulations;
  • Demonstrated successful history of Project Management leadership including leading multiple simultaneous projects for a minimum of two years;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to read electrical, mechanical and single line blueprints, engineering drawings and plan sets;
  • Knowledge of submetering systems and electrical power theory;
  • Supervisory experience is considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in related electrical/utility or construction industry;
  • 3+ years experience in management;
  • Post-Secondary School Graduate and/or Electrical Trade;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office applications;
  • Where applicable a Valid G class driver’s, and proof of insurance coverage is required.

Working Conditions

  • In settings such as electrical rooms, construction sites and office/residential buildings;
  • Demanding workload and tight deadlines;
  • Occasional out of town work and outside of regular office hours will be required as part of your regular duties;
  • Ability to work safely on ladders and automated lift devices (training provided);
  • Appropriate safety wear is required (provided).
