Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people, community, and cutting-edge technology to provide gold standard project delivery. We are currently looking for a Product Development Lead to join our team. Peter Lucas has developed an internal web-based platform to support business initiatives and is looking for someone with comprehensive knowledge of product development. This role involves leading the launch, continuous improvement, iterations, and future developments of this platform.

The Product Development Lead will be responsible for end-to-end development and maintenance of a web-based platform and any new features, iterations, and products as specified by Peter Lucas’ Senior Leadership. This role encompasses the ownership of all aspects of product development, including:

  • Product management
  • Product design
  • Architecture and system integration
  • Front-end and back-end development
  • UI/UX design
  • Systems administration
  • Testing and quality assurance
  • Personnel Management

The developer will be responsible for tasks traditionally managed by various specialized roles within a development team. In that vein, the individual does not need to be an expert in all the areas, but the expectation is they will have experience and the ability to execute these functions as needed. The current team would consist of the Product Development Lead and a Junior Front-end Developer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Management:

  • Ideation of new features and applications for existing products
  • Define and manage the product roadmap, prioritize features based on business goals and user needs.
  • Coordinate with leadership to align product development with overall company strategy.
  • Conduct regular reviews and iterations based on user feedback and performance metrics.
  • Develop and delegate detailed task lists and timelines for product development activities.

Front-End Development and UI/UX:

  • Develop and maintain the user interface of the web platform, ensuring responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in web design, focusing on usability and accessibility.
  • Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes as required for new features.
  • Ensure a user-centric design approach, focusing on usability and accessibility.

Back-End Development:

  • Develop and maintain server-side logic, databases, and APIs.
  • Ensure high performance and scalability of the backend infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain security (authorization, authentication, data privacy and protection, API security, etc.)

Testing and Quality Assurance (QA):

  • Develop and execute test plans to identify bugs and ensure high-quality releases.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks and conduct regular testing to maintain platform reliability.
  • Perform manual testing as needed to validate user experience and functionality.

DevOps and System Administration:

  • Manage deployment processes, CI/CD pipelines, and ensure platform scalability and reliability.
  • Management of third-party services (AWS suite e.g. EC2, RDS, S3, route53, cloudfront)
  • Maintain servers, ensure uptime, and monitor system performance.
  • Implement security measures to protect the platform and user data (certificate management, secrets manager).

Architecture and System Integration:

  • Design and implement a scalable and maintainable system architecture.
  • Integrate third-party services and APIs as required.
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between different components of the platform.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all product-related queries.
  • Communicate progress, updates, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical end-users to collect and interpret feedback
  • Manage expectations and effectively communicate software development processes to non-technical team members and stakeholders.

Personnel Management:

  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to efficiently complete projects and tasks.
  • Provide direct feedback, guidance and mentorship to team members as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all development processes and decisions as required.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Assist in providing performance reviews for team members.

Requirements:

  • Experience with the following Tech Stack: React, Django, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, route53), Docker, Microsoft Graph
  • The application features interfaces tailored to three distinct user personas. Candidates must be comfortable managing various user interfaces with unique needs and features.
