We are currently recruiting for an Area Supervisor in the Edmonton area for our Asphalt operations. This is a full-time position reports directly to the General Manager of Asphalt.



RESPONSIBILITIES



Maintain and support our strong safety culture, ensuring employees adhere to company policies and safe work practices
Provides leadership and direction to operations staff, overseeing equipment maintenance, production and plant utilization, customer service and employee experience
Support frontline supervisors to manage staffing requirements, training and competencies, and overtime in a unionized environment
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by providing timely quotes, monitoring market conditions and trends, and delivering exceptional customer service throughout all stages of the sales process, addressing any inquiries and resolving issues
Work with management to develop and deliver annual budgets, strategic initiatives, manage inventories and identify process improvement opportunities.
Manage and control costs through strategic purchasing, new technologies, and process & productivity improvement
Coordinate with the Quality Control Department to ensure the quality of our product and customers’ specifications are met
Build strong strategic relationships with stakeholders including management, quality control, direct reports, shared services, customers, vendors and other BURNCO divisions
Ensures buildings and equipment are neat, clean and well maintained

QUALIFICATIONS



Management experience in the asphalt industry (or similar) is strongly preferred including but not limited to the operation and maintenance of asphalt production equipment, asphalt binder terminal operations, and sales of hot and cold mix asphalt products.
Proven leadership in motivating teams, resolving conflicts, and building cohesive units, supported by exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
Flexible, organized and able to manage multiple priorities
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the potential of weekends/afterhours
Post-secondary education considered an asset
