Facility Technician II in Ottawa, Ontario

Sysco leads from the heart of food and service to deliver the freshest of foods and ideas to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home.

Role: This position is responsible for assisting facility technician level III technicians with maintenance activities related to general maintenance and repair of the facility, automatic retrieval systems, dock equipment, minor repair of electrical devices, light plumbing, and basic refrigeration system inspections and maintenance. The shift type is a 4 on, 4 off continental.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures and governing requirements.
  2. Knowledge of controls and electric (high and low voltage) with working knowledge of general industry electrical safety standards.
  3. Working knowledge of NFPA 80 National Fire Code.
  4. Understanding of electrical meter testing.
  5. Working knowledge of electrical Arc Flash requirements.
  6. Refrigeration Class B or A operator license or Third-class stationary engineering license.
  7. Completes all special projects connected with building or grounds, as requested.
  8. Perform general building maintenance including painting and basic repairs.
  9. Maintain facility assets through scheduled preventative maintenance and repair activities.
  10. Responsible for logging time and materials into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily.
  11. Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order.
  12. Comply with Workplace Health and Safety, and other local, provincial and federal regulations.
  13. Interact effectively and build relationships with colleagues.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:

  1. Minimum 2 years (preferred 4 years) of relevant experience in facility maintenance or equipment trade education.
  2. Mechanically inclined.
  3. Minimum of 2 years (preferred 4 years) working with Freon and/or CO2 transcritical / Ammonia refrigeration systems.
  4. Moderate knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  5. High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  6. Class A or B Refrigeration Operators certificate or third-class stationary engineering certificate.
  7. Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle.
