What your day will look like:

  1. Design and Project Coordination
    • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and studies to support the development of transportation engineering designs, including EA documentation
    • Design of transportation projects including:
      1. Preliminary and Detailed Design
      2. Engineering studies
      3. Technical specifications
      4. Design calculations
      5. Transportation drafting using CADD software
    • Conduct site investigations and condition assessments
    • Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments
    • Preparation of contract documentation, including:
      1. Contract drawings
      2. Construction specifications
      3. Tender quantity and cost estimates
      4. Working day estimates
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists, and administrative support staff
  2. Business Development
    • Contribute to the preparation of estimates and project proposals
    • Contribute to the leadership and growth of the Transportation group
    • Contribute to the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunities
    • Travel to client locations and/or other Dillon offices for the purposes of executing your responsibilities, internal client relationship development, project research, and project delivery

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed:

  1. A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology
  2. Licensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months, or registered as a civil engineering technologist in the province of Ontario or eligible to be registered within six months
  3. 3-8 years of experience with exposure to consulting.
Experience

Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements

  1. Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
  2. Understand project design and implementation activities, including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
  3. Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads software will be considered an asset
  4. Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
