Engineering Technologist

The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our Development Engineering Division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the review of development applications, ensuring compliance with city policies and regulations.
- Prepare and review technical reports, project correspondence, contracts, and agreements.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to facilitate development projects.
- Provide superior customer service to City staff, developers, contractors, and residents.
- Assist with the delivery of Capital Projects and manage records associated with development.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Three (3) year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of related experience in a municipal environment.
- Registration with or eligibility for registration with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (O.A.C.E.T.T.).
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret policies, guidelines, and technical manuals.
- Ability to multitask and handle significant workloads.
- Comprehensive understanding of all development processes, including the subdivision process.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform moderate physical exertion in all seasons.
- Ability to work within a deadline-oriented department.
