Job Title: Engineering Technologist

The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our Development Engineering Division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the review of development applications, ensuring compliance with city policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, project correspondence, contracts, and agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to facilitate development projects.
  • Provide superior customer service to City staff, developers, contractors, and residents.
  • Assist with the delivery of Capital Projects and manage records associated with development.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Three (3) year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in a municipal environment.
  • Registration with or eligibility for registration with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (O.A.C.E.T.T.).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret policies, guidelines, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to multitask and handle significant workloads.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all development processes, including the subdivision process.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical exertion in all seasons.
  • Ability to work within a deadline-oriented department.
