The Vice President Finance and Corporate Services reports to the President and CEO is accountable for the development and co-ordination of corporate finances, corporate policy, strategic planning and communications, information technology systems, human resource functions and procedures, and long-term planning in support of the NHC's vision, mission, mandate, goals & objectives. Authority, responsibility, and accountability also include the supervision of staff, research, strategic, economic, and financial planning for the Corporation and acting as the Secretariat to the Corporation. This position is responsible for ensuring the fiscal and monetary well-being of the Corporation. The position has an impact on all the Corporation’s Divisions, three Districts (Kivalliq, Kitikmeot, Qikiqtaaluk), 25 Local Housing Organizations (LHOs) located across Nunavut, as well as on various contract and individual Corporation clients and vendors. It is also responsible for the functional guidance, oversight, and support for ~337 staff employed with the LHOs in the areas of Finance, Information Technology, and Human Resources.


The successful candidate requires a recognized professional accounting designation and professional training in related fields such as Management and Financial Accounting, coupled with a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in a financial and management environment. The candidate must be well versed in Generally Accepted Accounting and Generally Accepted Auditing Principles, and possess superior leadership, communication, interpersonal and time management skills.


Familiarity with Nunavut, and Northern Housing, along with the ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
