About The Contract
We are seeking an Electrical Designer with an insatiable appetite for layouts for a 6-month contract (to start) to help us out with accelerating our product delivery. What kind of layouts? The highly complex, high-speed kind of applications that form the basis of our 5th Generation stabilized airborne imaging systems used in the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) markets globally.


Reporting to the Vice President of NPI, indirectly to a Project Engineer and working alongside a small but mighty team in our Electrical Lab, you will be accountable for 4 main things throughout this 6-month contract:

  • Create elegantly crafted layouts derived from requirements generation, architecture/design, and bespoke customer requirements.
  • Validation of main aspects of electronics, interconnects, signal integrity, FPGA and programmable logic development, and embedded software.
  • Ensure design requirements are not only properly understood, but really well documented.
  • Lend your voice, experience, and curiosity to how our designs influence the operability and evolution of our state-of-the-art gyro-stabilized optical payloads in our regular design and code reviews.

The Details:

  • Layouts will include verification of complex multi-layer FPGA and Microprocessor circuit cards used in high-speed and high-power applications.
  • Perform some electrical simulations using LTSpice.
  • Leverage a Design-for-Test approach to facilitate the testing of embedded boards and systems.
  • Potentially design functional test systems to verify designs and validate manufactured assemblies.

High-Value Technical Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of PCB and circuit board manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced electrical CAD skills using Cadence, OrCad or Allegro.
  • Familiarity with design for military power and environmental requirements.
  • Familiarity with design for aircraft safety requirements is an asset.

About You As An Electrical Designer
Above all else you're fast, competent and used to working with tight tolerances for space and power. You absolutely love doing PCB layouts but that's not your only trick.
