HAVE Culinary Training Society is a non-profit organization in Vancouver, BC, offering affordable, quality catering services, along with job training and employment opportunities to individuals facing barriers to employment in the Downtown Eastside.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Cook at HAVE Culinary Training Society. The Lead Cook will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, preparing meals, creating menus, managing inventory, and ensuring food safety and quality standards are met. They will also be responsible for helping with the culinary training of individuals facing barriers. Travel between our four locations (located in Surrey, Vancouver and North Vancouver) will also be required to cover vacations, sick days, and as needed so access to a vehicle is required. Only applicants located in British Columbia, Canada will be considered.
Qualifications
- Culinary skills, including large batch cooking/catering, meal preparation, and menu planning
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Experience in kitchen management and inventory control
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Time management and organizational skills
- Certification from a culinary institution is an asset
- Previous experience working in community-based organizations or with marginalized populations is a plus
