Esri Canada has an exciting opportunity for a Bilingual GIS Analyst supporting the Community Map of Canada program. The position is based remotely in Canada and will report directly to a Community Maps Lead.


The Bilingual GIS Analyst works closely with a team of specialist responsible for producing the Community Map of Canada. The Community Map of Canada is a basemap of Canada built from authoritative data, collected closest to source and updated daily. Seamlessly created to one common specification, it provides unrestricted access to community maps and imagery across the country.


The key responsibility of the Bilingual GIS Analyst is to actively engage, on an on-going basis, with Community Map of Canada data contributors and facilitate their data contributions and updates providing quality assurance and support. The Bilingual GIS Analyst will also provide technical support to Community Map of Canada contributors and the user community engaging in community outreach initiatives and promotion of the Community Map of Canada program.


Bilingual GIS Analyst responsibilities include:


Technical

  • Perform field mapping on all data provided by assigned contributors for inclusion in the Community Map of Canada
  • Conduct quality assessments on all data provided by assigned contributors to ensure it meets the standards for inclusion in the Community Map of Canada
  • Resolve basic data synchronization issues for assigned contributors.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, feedback, and issues with a sense of urgency maintaining continuous communication until the inquiry is resolved to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on all data updates from assigned contributors.
  • Conduct regular health checks with community contributors, providing ongoing support to those contributors, resolving any data synchronization issues, and encouraging adoption of best practices for data maintenance and updates.
  • Offer suggestions for improvements in the Community Map of Canada data processing workflow or quality assurance processes.
  • Acquire, process, and deliver contributor imagery submissions.
  • Develop scripts and/or apps to assist with workflow productivity.
  • Maintain a high degree of knowledge and expertise in the Esri system through training and certification.


Customer Focus

  • Develop an understanding of assigned contributors, their use of the Community Map of Canada and ArcGIS, current or planned GIS data initiatives and opportunities for further engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Solutions Specialist and promote the use and benefits of incorporating the Community Map of Canada in apps and services developed and implemented by contributor organizations.
  • Actively participate in community outreach events such as webinars and community meetups
  • Actively develop StoryMaps, blogs, videos and other communication material providing technical guidance, best practices and useful technical resources related to the use of the Community Map of Canada
  • Maintain all assigned contributor records in Salesforce ensuring they are complete and up-to-date at all times


Teamwork

  • Collaborate with other members of the team ensuring that work is completed efficiently and on-time.
  • Contribute actively to the ongoing process of improving Community Map of Canada documentation


Specific skill requirements:

  • Bilingual – excellent verbal and written communication skills in the French and English language
  • University degree in, geomatics, GIS, or equivalent education
  • Experience working with Esri technology (Pro, Server, Online) in customer-facing roles.
  • Proven experience with Python in an ArcGIS environment
  • Proven experience developing ArcGIS applications.

L’analyste SIG bilingue travaille en étroite collaboration avec une équipe de spécialistes chargés de produire la carte communautaire du Canada. La carte communautaire du Canada est un fond de carte du pays établi à partir de données officielles, recueillies le plus près possible de la source et mises à jour quotidiennement. Ce fond de carte uniformise la présentation des données et offre un accès illimité aux cartes et à l’imagerie des communautés d’un océan à l’autre.


Les principales responsabilités de l’analyste SIG bilingue consistent à établir une relation soutenue avec les contributeurs de données à la carte communautaire du Canada et à faciliter leurs travaux de contribution et de mise à jour de données en leur fournissant de l’assistance et des services d’assurance de la qualité. L’analyste SIG bilingue fournit également une assistance technique aux contributeurs et utilisateurs de la carte communautaire du Canada en participant aux initiatives de sensibilisation visant cette communauté, ainsi qu’aux campagnes de promotion du programme.

Les responsabilités de l’analyste SIG bilingue comprennent :

Volet technique

  • Effectuer la cartographie sur le terrain de toutes les soumissions fournies par les contributeurs désignés en vue d’intégrer les données dans la carte communautaire du Canada.
  • Mener des évaluations de la qualité des données fournies par les contributeurs désignés afin de s’assurer qu’elles répondent aux normes d’intégration dans la carte communautaire du Canada.
  • Résoudre les problèmes de synchronisation des données de base pour les contributeurs désignés.
  • Répondre aux demandes de renseignements, aux commentaires et aux problèmes des clients avec empressement, en maintenant une communication continue jusqu’à ce que la demande soit résolue à la satisfaction du client.
  • Effectuer des contrôles d’assurance qualité sur toutes les mises à jour de données des contributeurs désignés.
  • Mener régulièrement des examens techniques avec les contributeurs de la communauté, en leur fournissant une assistance continue, en résolvant tout problème de synchronisation des données et en encourageant l’adoption des meilleures pratiques de maintenance et de mise à jour des données.
  • Suggérer des améliorations à apporter aux flux de travaux de traitement des données et aux processus d’assurance de la qualité liés à la carte communautaire du Canada.
  • Acquérir, traiter et livrer les soumissions d’imagerie des contributeurs.
  • Élaborer des scripts ou des applications qui rehaussent la productivité des flux de travaux.
  • Maintenir un haut degré de connaissance et d’expertise du système d’Esri par la formation et la certification.


Volet clientèle

  • Développer une compréhension des contributeurs désignés, de leur utilisation de la carte communautaire du Canada et d’ArcGIS, des initiatives de données SIG en cours ou prévues et des possibilités d’approfondir les échanges.
  • Collaborer avec la ou le spécialiste en solutions technologiques et promouvoir l’utilisation et les avantages de l’intégration de la carte communautaire du Canada dans les applications et les services élaborés et mis en œuvre par les organisations contributrices.
  • Participer activement aux événements de sensibilisation de la communauté, tels que les webinaires et les rencontres communautaires.
  • Élaborer activement des cartes narratives, des billets de blogue, des vidéos et d’autres instruments de communication fournissant des conseils techniques, des meilleures pratiques et des ressources techniques utiles liés à l’utilisation de la carte communautaire du Canada.
  • Maintenir tous les dossiers des contributeurs désignés dans Salesforce, en veillant à ce qu’ils soient complets et à jour à tout moment.

Formation, expérience et aptitudes nécessaires

  • Bilinguisme démontrant d’excellentes compétences en matière de communication orale et écrite, en français et en anglais.
  • Diplôme universitaire en géomatique, en SIG ou l’équivalent.
