Summary

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for supporting all operations in the facility by overseeing the installations, repairs, and maintenance on all manufacturing equipment and facilities infrastructure. The objective of this role is to ensure that all materials, equipment, and machinery are in good order so that they can run at their maximum efficiency and output.

The Maintenance Manager will schedule maintenance checks, establish best practices, and oversee adherence to all safety protocols and procedures related to manufacturing equipment and facilities infrastructure. By managing continuous improvement on modern manufacturing principles through highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes, the Maintenance Manager is central to improve operational effectiveness.

This role is ideal for an individual with an extensive background in providing maintenance support for all operations, preferably in a family-operated, manufacturing environment. We are looking for an energetic, hands-on professional with strong follow through, problem solving skills, organizational skills, and emotional intelligence.

Duties And Responsibilities

Maintenance Management

  1. Manage and coordinate regular maintenance activities ensuring installation and repair activities are completed in a timely manner. This includes managing relationships with contractors and service providers to ensure maintenance issues are resolved.
  2. Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule ensuring preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively.
  3. Develop Preventative Maintenance tasks and documentation with support from Engineering Services and Maintenance Supervisor.
  4. Assist in development of CMMS program and maintenance tracking systems.
  5. Adhere to daily and weekly maintenance checks by monitoring electrical and mechanical systems, and manufacturing equipment to ensure everything is in good order for operational effectiveness.
  6. Maintain maintenance logs and report on regular maintenance activities.
  7. Manage the Work Order (WO) system and ensure that work orders are being completed in a timely fashion and assign priority based on safety or production needs.
  8. Ensure facility is fit for purpose and provide proactive support and solutions when required, including ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  9. Develop clear accountability for maintenance costs combined with a strategy to manage expenditure, including performing root cause analysis to resolve any issues that arise.
  10. Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
  11. Manage the process of disposal of defective machinery from obtaining agreement to write it off to physically removing it and ensuring its safe and lawful disposal.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  1. Over 5 years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Degree/Diploma in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
  3. Strong understanding of engineering concepts, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  4. Excellent organizational skills with experience in planning, tracking, and reporting on maintenance operations.
  5. Strong understanding of maintenance policies and procedures on all manufacturing equipment.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with leadership and management abilities.
  7. Experience working in a high-growth business and interest in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Takes initiative without waiting for instruction.
  9. Demonstrated technical and mechanical capabilities and ability to use hand tools.
  10. Competent in problem solving and decision making with the ability to handle stress and multiple tasks well.
  11. Experience in a family-owned business is an asset.

Working Conditions
