As the Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be a key contributor to the Ditanu team designing robotics & automation systems for world class organizations. You will be responsible for, but not limited to, design development, communication with internal project stakeholders, vendors, and various trades in order to ensure the project is completed as planned and on budget.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations with respect to mechanical engineering and machine design
  • Produce mechanical designs, drawings and bills of materials for robotic & automation systems, tools, machines, equipment, sub-assemblies and products using SolidWorks
  • Produce fluid power drawings
  • Review drawings for adherence to proper drafting and manufacturing standards
  • Analyze designs in the equipment and product development process
  • Analyze the use of one or more machines to carry out sequential operations
  • Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards
  • Communicate all requested design changes, progress, etc. to the Mechanical Design – Project Leader
  • Ability to design tooling from sketches or verbal concepts, and with the aid of common machine shop measuring tools
  • Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications
  • Liaise with fabricators, machinists, toolmakers and electricians in the completion of equipment and resolving problems
  • Create machine operation, maintenance manuals and drawing documentation
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Provide team technical support
  • This position requires some travel
  • Adhere to the Employment Standards Act, Health and Safety rules and procedures, the Ditanu Employee Handbook, and enforce throughout the entire company


Proficiency

  • Solidworks and AutoCAD design software
  • Product data management software
  • Office software suite
  • ISO, CE, ANSI, CZA, OSHA, etc. machine safety standards
  • Machine shop techniques and manufacturing processes
  • Robotics, electromechanical systems, components and devices, and their use
  • ANSI/ISO drafting principles and standards
  • Fluid power design principles and standards

  • Food and Beverage
  • Filling and Packaging


Qualifications and Requirements

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 12+ years experience doing mechanical design and drafting in a custom automation environment
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Valid passport


Compensation

  • Salary up to $89,300 based on expertise
