HR Specialist – Shared Services
Department: Human Resources – Shared Services
Location: Laval, Toronto or Calgary
Hybrid work: 3 days at the office and 2 days remotely
Type of employment: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours)
THE ROLE
Reporting to the HR Manager, Shared Services, the HR Specialist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive HR services to employees and management, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations, and supporting various HR and Payroll functions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

General HR
- Collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Compensation, and Benefits teams to deliver high-quality HR services.
- Provide timely information and guidance to employees and managers on various HR aspects, including benefits, RRSP programs, absences, and vacations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS (Human Resource Information System).
Benefits/ Absence Administration
- Assist in the administration of benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and communication with employees.
- Communicate benefits plans to participants and ensure that all information in Workday is reflected accurately.
- Process absence requests and manage returns to work.
Payroll
- Assist with basic payroll tasks or inquiries.
- Verify and update payroll information, such as employee timesheets, deductions, and direct deposit details.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We want you to join our team Here's what we're looking for:
Education
- Certificate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Or College degree combined with relevant experience.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in an HR specialist role, preferably in a shared services environment.
Knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and in Workday (asset).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to work as part of a team and with multiple other functions.
Language skills
- Bilingualism required (French and English), both written and spoken.
