Responsibilities:- Lead all day-to-day operations, including but not limited to ticketing, merchandising, public relations/marketing, game day management, community relations, partnership sales and basketball operations.
- Create and instill a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages all organization members to make positive contributions.
- Foster a culture centered around the success of the franchise as a whole, but with an overarching focus on revenue generation across all of the team’s major sales channels (ticketing, merchandise, sponsorship).
- Train, recruit, motivate and hold accountable all members of the front office to drive effective and efficient business operations.
- Ensure that the sales team has measurable and achievable targets for designated time periods, monitoring the sales dashboard and making adjustments as needed to sales strategies.
- Actively sell sponsorship for the BlackJacks whenever possible, establishing strategic partnerships within Ottawa’s business and basketball communities.
- Oversee the team’s marketing plan alongside the CEBL Vice President, Brand and Marketing and the Manager, Digital Marketing and Data to ensure the franchise grows its presence in the marketplace.
- Become the “face” of the franchise by being a recognizable person in Ottawa’s business community – attend business breakfasts, gala dinners, etc. as necessary.
- Manage the organization’s budget and maintain the appropriate allocation of funds where needed.
- Build long-lasting external relationships to ensure that the team is becoming a valued member of the community.
- Confirm that favourable venue and office leases are negotiated as required.
- Ensure the organization is managing an efficient line of communication with the team’s venue and its operators.
- Ensure that game day and community event operations run efficiently, being certain that the CEBL’s “new basketball experience” is thoroughly delivered during all BlackJacks home games.
- Actively search and seek out media opportunities for the franchise.
- Work closely with CEBL’s league office to effectively integrate with the office’s support for its Clubs (sponsorship, ticketing, marketing, broadcast, livestream, etc.).
- Liaise with the league office to ensure that the team is meeting the league’s minimum standards (abiding by the CEBL Operations Manual where required).
- Educate the Basketball Operations department of the CEBL’s rules and regulations to ensure that the BlackJacks franchise operates in accordance with said rules at all times.
- Act as the BlackJacks representative at league meetings as needed.
