Overview

The Crew Lead is responsible for supervising the daily activities of their assigned production crew and ensuring the efficient and safe completion of assigned work. S/he will coordinate daily workloads, provide training and support to ensure the performance of the team is acceptable, monitor and resolve production and safety issues, and ensure targets and quality standards are met. The Crew Lead will also develop the team by providing individual and group training to develop crew skills to a level that capable of consistently meeting high performance standards, while always fostering a culture of safety.

Essential Duties
  1. Supervise a crew of production operators and oversee daily work (i.e., completion of work, safety, attendance, coverage); ensure that the team’s work is completed efficiently and targets are met.
  2. Operate the control board; participate in daily operational and maintenance activities, as needed.
  3. Manage daily crew meetings to make team aware of daily targets and responsibilities; review previous results and incidents and provide any needed training to complete the day’s activities.
  4. Be a part of production planning process to maximize terminal throughput and availability by scheduling production and maintenance.
  5. Ensure that all crew members are aware of and comply with procedures and quality requirements.
  6. Review and authorize permitted work to be completed.
  7. Supervise start-up and shutdown procedure, including planning and resource management.
  8. Work closely with maintenance contractors to ensure the scheduling and completion of planned and unplanned maintenance; provide operational support to maintenance as needed.
  9. Review and assist with the creation / update of SOPs and emergency response plan; participate in emergency response preparedness activities as directed.
  10. Facilitate the skill and personal development of the crew. Train operators regarding products, processes, SOPs, etc., and identify areas for continued improvement for each crew member.
  11. Manage training compliance within the crew to assure proper utilization of time and growth.
  12. Facilitate and ensure adherence to good housekeeping practices / 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and oversee the housekeeping activities within production areas.
  13. Participate in incident reviews as needed; complete reporting and action closure as required.
  14. Lead safety discussion each shift rotation. Gather operator feedback and coordinate with EHSS to identify actions and improve safety at Cyanco.
  15. Manage periodic performance reviews for assigned crew.
  16. Occasionally work on weekends and fill in for crew member if no other operators are available.

Non-Essential Duties: Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  1. Possess strong mechanical and instrumentation skills.
  2. Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  3. Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions (in written, oral, or diagram form). Able to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to adapt communication style to different audiences; able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills. Developing supervisory, leadership, mentoring skills.
  6. Proven track record of continuous improvement and a demonstrated focus on safety.
  7. Intermediate computer skills (Excel, MS Word, Outlook, etc.).
  8. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  9. Ability to read, write and speak English required.
  10. Able to work within and support Cyanco’s Core Values.
Minimum Education and Certification
  1. Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in process plant operations is highly regarded.
  2. High school diploma or adult education diploma (AED) and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Minimum Experience
  1. 2-3 years of Cyanco-related production experience.
  2. Successful completion of safety training and other training deemed appropriate by Cyanco.
Physical Demands
