Canada, CA CECI Full time

If you’re committed to making a meaningful impact on gender equality and women’s empowerment, we’d love to have you on board

**This volunteer mandate is based in Kigali, Rwanda, for individuals who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

In Rwanda, CECI is dedicated to enhancing the economic empowerment of vulnerable women, including farmers, breeders, heads of households, young mothers, and those living in refugee camps or engaged in cross-border trade. While significant strides have been made in gender equality, particularly at the political level, more efforts are needed at the household level.

CECI volunteers collaborate with civil society organizations to boost economic opportunities for women and work with women's rights groups to foster a supportive environment for gender equality. If you're passionate about driving positive change and supporting women's rights, consider joining our mission in Rwanda

Our partner: Center for Economic Governance and Leadership (CEGL) of University of Kigali is a pioneering training hub dedicated to empowering Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Rwanda. The center's vision is to be Rwanda’s leading University Business Center, empowering SMEs to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth by creating a dynamic ecosystem where SMEs can thrive and drive sustainable development.

We’re seeking passionate individuals to collaborate with the CEGL team at the University of Kigali on impactful projects focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment. Your role will involve:

  • Developing Tools & Resources: Create educational materials, training resources, and capacity-building programs to advance gender equality across various sectors.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Support and conduct training sessions for the CEGL team and other stakeholders to effectively integrate gender equality principles and practices.
  • Assessment & Strategy Development: Assist in evaluating current gender equality practices and design innovative strategies to empower women and young rural women.
  • Awareness & Education: Organize training and awareness campaigns for staff, community members, and stakeholders to enhance understanding of gender issues.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate training and learning sessions on gender equality for national and regional communities of practice.
  • Integration & Evaluation: Contribute to embedding gender perspectives in partner programs and establish mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the impact of gender equality initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Work with external partners, women’s rights organizations, and key stakeholders to strengthen gender equality efforts and foster an inclusive organizational culture.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and contribute to personal safety measures, including risk mitigation plans.
  • Communication & Fundraising: Share your volunteer experience to raise awareness about international solidarity and support fundraising activities in collaboration with local partners.
  • Reporting: Write detailed reports for partner organizations and CECI.
