Workers' Compensation Manager, Workers' Comp Canada

The Workers' Compensation Manager will be responsible for administering and monitoring Amazon's Workers Compensation program in Canada. They will also be responsible for developing and collaborating successful partnerships with stakeholders, Workers’ Compensation Boards, internal business partners and external service providers.


Key job responsibilities
  1. Ensures business is compliant with provincial specific Workers’ Compensation regulations as well as Amazon policies and guidelines.
  2. Acts as the point of notification and contact for stakeholders regarding any incident or injury that could or has resulted in a Workers’ Compensation claim.
  3. Collaborate with site-level representatives (Medical, Safety and Operations) and leaders to provide required follow-up on open claims and any potential new claims & trends.
  4. Initial and ongoing point of contact to internal and external business partners and stakeholders for the duration of the claim.
  5. Internal Correspondence: point of contact for all documentation regarding WC claims. This includes internal safety notifications and investigation details as well as any health information relevant to the claim from outside medical providers and treatment notes. Health information is limited to medical related to the injury.
  6. External Correspondence: respond to Worker’s Compensation (WC) Boards requests within 24 hours to ensure diligent case management.
  7. Build return-to-work plans by assessing the medical, vocational, behavioral, etc., as needed.
  8. Communicate with stakeholders, both internal and external, to review treatment notes, request clarifications, if necessary, follow up with WC Boards, as well as schedule appointments if a referral to a specialist is necessary.
  9. Review claims costs with the National Director and formulate strategies to minimize the financial impacts of disability on the business.
  10. Manage appeals processes for each claim within the designated customer group.
  11. Manage claims administrative needs to ensure case management processes are followed.
  12. Available for domestic and potentially international travel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience with process improvement and stakeholder management
  2. Experience working with KPIs and SLAs
  3. 1+ years of worker’s compensation experience or similar / related expertise
  4. Bachelor's degree in a field related to Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Health/Kinesiology or a related field
  5. Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience with HR processes and systems
  2. Capacity to deal with ambiguity and a constantly transforming environment
  3. Knowledge and work experience of the Workers’ Compensation laws and regulations across Canada as well as the medical and legal terminology
  4. Ability to professionally communicate both verbally and written with stakeholders, recognizing and appropriately responding to others’ perspectives
  5. Excellent organization and attention to details

The base salary for this position ranges from $47,600/year up to $79,600/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
