As they continue to experience success across all markets, they are looking to add a Continuous Improvement Lead for their Ontario operations. This is a full time, permanent position with a Monday to Friday daytime schedule.


The employee will be responsible for implementing lean manufacturing methods across the manufacturing facility to minimize waste and maximize productivity. The Manager will employ lean tools/methodologies and lead process improvement projects to enhance efficiencies and profitability. They will be a strategic business partner, reporting to the EVP, who can articulate not only the project parameters, status and updates, but also the ROI.



Here’s what you’ll do:


  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by utilizing cross functional teams to analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout using lean principles and philosophies.
  • Work with team leaders and production supervisors to drive continuous improvement activities that improve various key performance indicators.
  • Support daily production cells by troubleshooting, collecting, and monitoring data to ensure equipment uptime and appropriate throughputs.
  • Develop operational procedures on all equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Gather data and compile reports to assess the effectiveness of manufacturing procedures.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and liaising with vendors.
  • Develop and maintain Predictive/Preventive Maintenance procedures.
  • Test and monitor machinery to ensure ongoing process capability. Troubleshoot machines to resolve breakdowns or faults.
  • Conduct process analysis to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Assist in the development of control plans for processes and products as needed.
  • Ensure successful completion of pre-start health and safety reviews for new and altered equipment.
  • Develop and maintain shift start safety checklists.
  • Support sales and operations teams in Contract Reviews for all significant new projects.
  • Leads all projects related to technical upgrades, equipment installation, tooling design and implementation.



Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:


  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering – preferably Industrial, Mechanical or Process.
  • P. Eng designation is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is strongly preferred.
  • 7 or more years of experience with manufacturing continuous improvement projects, employing Lean principles. Experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, aggregates or similar industries is preferred.
  • Notable experience in manufacturing environments involving sheet metal fabrication, stamping, CNC processes.
  • Strong business acumen with proven experience in Capital Planning, Feasibility Analysis, Cost-Benefit Analysis, etc.
  • 5 or more years of experience with repetitive and build to suit manufacturing methodologies.
  • Proven leadership qualities with an ability to model values, integrity and accountability.
  • Experience with Kanban, Process Mapping and Methods Analysis.
  • Highly computer proficient, including expertise in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Dynamic/ Static Nesting, etc. ERP/SAP experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders of various levels and backgrounds.
  • Highly organized with proven project management skills. An ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
