Bechtel Infrastructure will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario. The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by three key PPP Contractors and multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors.
Job Summary:
This role supports the Assurance Manager in the management of the RAM requirements for the Ontario Line designs undertaken by the various design and delivery contractors. This role provides technical oversight of activities relating to RAM, analyze the Ontario Line Project requirements and to facilitate the implementation of RAM Plans by the design and delivery contractors and ensures the Employer Requirements are met by the suppliers and that robust justifications and technical assurance can be produced in support of their individual product Safety Cases and eventual Ontario Line Project Operational Safety Case.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support the establishment and management of the detailed OL Projects RAM Strategy and Management Plans.
- Coordinate with the IPT (program and deployed team) in the definition of RAM requirements.
- Develop project-specific approaches to management of RAM activities and facilitate compliance with European standards EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129.
- Quantify the expected performance of the railway in terms of RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) targets.
- Facilitate the definition of all interfaces, electrical, mechanical, environmental and human, internal and external, including any specific Interface Requirements Specifications.
- Provide support and guidance to Assurance and Engineering Safety Management activities.
- Ensure that robust RAM management is undertaken within the design and delivery contractors and identify any risks in the design of the operational railway.
- Support the specification and review of functions and characteristics of the operational railway.
- Provide inputs into the common Ontario Line Project risk register.
- Provide advice on RAM management and processes pertinent to railway operation.
- Support the identification of risk and measures including system safety analysis.
- Assist the Assurance Manager with the review of the design and delivery contractors Safety Cases.
- Support the Ontario Line Project Independent Safety Assessor’s (ISA) review.
- Understand a live operational construction environment with significant safety hazards.
- Ensure RAM stage works considerations are addressed in the contractor's design.
- Undertake reviews of contractor design submittals relating to RAM.
- Champion the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Take personal responsibility to ensure health and safety.
- Cooperate in all matters relating to health, safety and environment.
- Conduct annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of experience on 2 major rail projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Broad experience of the application of systems engineering to major infrastructure projects.
- Significant experience of RAM Management as applied to major railway infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in a RAM role with a focus on satisfying rail safety standards.
- Strong English language communication and report writing skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Design Suite software programs.
