As we expand our operations, we seek a seasoned Project Manager to oversee a multi-year remediation and reclamation program in central Alberta, working closely with indigenous groups .


BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the comprehensive management of a large-scale, multi-year environmental remediation and reclamation program for a major energy company. This includes stakeholder management, safety and permitting, preparing tenders, budgets, estimates, and schedules. The PM will collaborate with both internal and external teams to ensure timely, safe, and efficient project execution.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with indigenous groups and partnerships.
  • Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to gather feedback and align project plans with community expectations.
  • Address and resolve any stakeholder concerns promptly and effectively.

Client Management:

  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure project alignment with their goals and expectations.
  • Prepare and present regular project updates and reports to clients.
  • Address client inquiries and issues promptly, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Overall Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy.
  • Track and report on project expenditures, maintaining budget compliance.
  • Collaborate with project accountants to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards.

Scheduling and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all project phases.
  • Allocate and manage project resources effectively to meet project goals.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Implement and monitor project management tools to track progress and resource utilization.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Diploma or Degree in Construction, Building Technology, or Engineering.
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience, or 15+ years as a licensed electrical or mechanical journeyman.
  • 5-10 years of direct construction project management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental trades and construction techniques.
  • Strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Effective construction safety and productivity practices.
  • Experience working with indigenous groups/partnerships is a strong asset.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
  • Ability to interpret and manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of contracts and managing contractors under contract terms.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated cost control measures.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and email.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, salaried position with defined minimum work hours. Overtime may be required.
  • Approximately 50% office work and 50% field work. Occasional travel may be required.
  • Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, fitness for duty and alcohol and drug testing is required.
