Overview: MT Talent is proud to be recruiting for a client who has served the local community for over 30 years. As they have grown substantially over the years, they now need a strong Human Resources and Office Manager to join their leadership team. This is a unique dual role covering both Human Resources and management of the day-to-day operations of the office to support the success of the team. This role is responsible for all HR initiatives for the company. Working closely with the President and the Director of Operations, they will ensure that the team has the training, tools, and motivation to contribute to the company’s bottom line as efficiently as possible. Since inception, our client has focused on creating great relationships with their clients, partners, and the community at large.

Here’s what you will do:

  1. Plan and implement best management practices that lead to a world-class culture that engages the employees and is aligned with the vision, mission, and values of the company.
  2. Full cycle recruitment efforts including coordinating all on/offboarding tasks.
  3. Work with the Department Head of Accounting to on/offboard employees in the payroll and benefit systems.
  4. Effectively manage, and be the point of contact for all employee benefit program providers.
  5. Implement and maintain a Human Resources Information System to track employee absence details, demographics, remuneration changes, and more.
  6. Manage and maintain all HR-related files in a way that complies with all legislative requirements.
  7. Ensure all company HR practices and policies are compliant with the Employment Standards Act, health and safety legislation, and human rights legislation.
  8. Implement metrics to gauge employee satisfaction and coordinate events to boost morale.
  9. Create and implement a performance valuation plan for the team to align their goals with those of the company.
  10. Develop and maintain a bonus system that is in line with the company’s annual financial goals.
  11. Assist and participate in the annual review process.
  12. Manage all training initiatives for the staff, track each employee’s progress on their annual RIBO continuing education training requirements, and delegate the completion of any license renewals as required.
  13. Participate in annual strategic planning initiatives and facilitate/report on outcomes of these sessions.
  14. Participate in annual budgeting discussions for all HR-related activities.
  15. Standardize and maintain all job descriptions and workflows for all positions within the company.
  16. Manage employee relations including personnel issues such as staff conflicts, absenteeism, etc.
  17. Manage all physical office service contracts such as the cleaning contract, keys/alarm system, drinking water supplier, etc. to help promote a safe and healthy working environment for the team.
  18. Provide backup coverage for the leadership team as required.
  19. Other HR leadership duties as assigned.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  1. 3 or more years of relevant experience, preferably in management positions in small to medium sized businesses.
  2. Experience in Insurance, Finance or similar industries is an asset.
  3. CHRP designation an asset.
  4. Educated in business administration required.
  5. Strong computer skills: MS Office, with advanced skills in Outlook, Excel and Word.
  6. Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset.
  7. Experience navigating HRIS implementation processes is an asset.
  8. A team player with a strong work ethic and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  9. Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines is required.
  10. Proactive and autonomous with the ability to work in an agile environment with confidence is required.
