Our client, based in Surrey, BC, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of aerospace components to the largest aerospace companies globally.
Due to their rapid growth, we're actively assisting them in hiring an Assistant Controller who will report directly to the Head of Finance at the company. As the Assistant Controller, you will oversee a Junior Accountant and will be responsible for overseeing and managing various accounting functions within the company.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for budget variances.
- Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts and sub-ledgers.
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by the Junior Accountant
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
- Provide financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification or in the process of obtaining a CPA is required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, including experience with financial reporting and analysis.
- Experience building out Journal Entries.
- Experience with Inventory Accounting and Materials Reporting
- Knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
- Managing small teams is a plus.
