We are a 50 suite, privately owned, Retirement Residence offering supportive care located within the village of St Jacobs.

The Director of Care’s primary role is directing professional care for all the residents. The successful candidate will lead and support the Wellness Team to provide excellent service for our residents.

Responsibilities:
  1. Hold a valid registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario.
  2. Hold a current CPR certificate.
  3. Knowledge of RHA and other relevant legislation.
  4. Ability to assess all resident wellness needs.
  5. Plan, implement, and evaluate resident wellness needs.
  6. Work in close collaboration with the General Manager, attending physicians, residents, family members, external care providers, and all other department managers.
  7. Manage and direct Infection Control throughout the residence with other Manager Members.
  8. Manage and direct all team members of the Wellness Department.
  9. Assist and set up required training and onboarding of Wellness Department Staff.
  10. Experience in assisted living and/or long-term care an asset.
  11. Demonstrate competence in assessment skills, injections/medication administration, follow up, and triage.
  12. Ability to delegate and oversee that care is being provided according to regulation and St Jacobs Place standards.
  13. Possess written, verbal, and computer skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate small group presentations and trainings.
  14. Competent in organizational and time management skills.
  15. Demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  16. Demonstrate proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office and be familiar with EMAR medication administration system.
  17. Ability to travel to assess potential residents as required.
  18. Successfully complete TB Skin Testing and Vulnerable Sector Check.
