Data Product Owner

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Product Owner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between data engineering, business analysis, business intelligence, and business teams, driving the development and implementation of data-driven products and solutions.
As a Data Product Owner, you will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog for our data initiatives. You will work closely with stakeholders, data scientists, engineers, BI architects, BI developers, and business users to ensure that our data products meet business objectives and needs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Report to the Senior Manager, Data.
- Develop relationships with Business partners to understand their business and provide recommendations and enhancements to solve their strategic and operational needs.
- Develop and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for data products.
- Facilitate sessions for gathering business/user requirements to support the functional or business solution by conducting interviews, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process description, document analysis, use cases, tasks, and workflow analysis.
- Translate the requirements into features and user stories.
- Plan and prioritize features and user stories based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Participate in daily standup meetings to resolve issues, address changes, and get updates on progress.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact between Data teams and business stakeholders.
- Evaluate a problem/opportunity from both business and technical perspectives to determine the best resolution approach.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for data products.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data product management.
- Apply data policies to ensure adherence to governance standards.
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
- You can demonstrate an ability to work across silos and move projects forward to completion.
- Your experience demonstrates skills in execution, collaboration, continuous learning, and systems thinking.
- You may have experience as a systems analyst, business analyst, or a similar business role. This role is open to people from a variety of backgrounds.
- You have a post-secondary degree/diploma in related business and a minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience.
- Certification in agile project delivery methodologies is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working with data engineering teams and/or decision support systems is considered an asset.
