Our client is looking for a self-directed, highly motivated HR professional with excellent
communication skills. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of human
resources including recruitment, facilitating orientation, ATS maintenance, employee training,
attendance management, onboarding and offboarding.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full cycle recruitment, recruit qualified candidates in accordance with applicable legislative requirements (OHRC, AODA etc..) via job postings on various internal and external boards
- Screen applicants by carefully matching experience, education and qualifications to the job criteria, prescreening and assisting with the interview process
- Actively participate in the review of job descriptions
- Facilitating job fairs and recruitment events
- Facilitating new worker orientation sessions
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing human resources policies and procedures in accordance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA), the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), and other relevant legislation; conducting investigations; maintaining records
- Tracking and monitoring employee absences recommending disciplinary action as necessary
- Liaise with the Payroll Department regarding employee compensation, absences and vacation allotment issues
- Ensure that all employee files have the most current information and training documentation by ensuring all employee databases and spreadsheets are cohesive
- Administering and overseeing annual performance review process including management reviews
- Support departmental managers with various projects and assignments on an as needed basis
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations or related discipline
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Human Resources Specialist, Human Resources Generalist or Human Resources Coordinator role within a union environment
- Advanced knowledge of the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and other applicable legislation
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) considered an immense asset
- High degree of confidentiality, discretion and judgment required
