Under the direction of the Supervisor, Welding, the team leader shall be responsible for coordinating the activities of production welding employees. The team leader ensures that production schedules are created and completed safely and on time and within budget, while ensuring that people are strategically placed to create optimum efficiency.

Job Duties
  • Enforce safety and health regulations
  • Coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, e.g. welders and/or finishers
  • Provide motivation for employees, increasing morale
  • Increase worker efficiency and production rates
  • Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget
  • Work with other team leaders and supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Read and analyze work orders, production schedules and other records/reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs

Requirements
  • College Diploma or Grade 12/GED and Apprenticeship Level 2/3 - Welding
  • 2 years experience in production, preferably as a production lead hand
  • Direct working knowledge of operations management
  • Knowledge of supplies and equipment, as well as inventory control
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing software systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to maintain databases, and basic diary/minutes management
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets

Work Conditions
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Overtime as required
  • Production floor safety issues
