Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Intermediate Procurement Specialist who will be responsible for the ownership of the procurement lifecycle including the following key activities:
- Driving towards contract awards
- Analysis and research to support the development of comprehensive sourcing strategies
- Active and daily communication/coordination of various internal stakeholders to ensure incremental progress and schedule adherence (project management)
- Regular supplier engagement and management
- Executing and maintaining delivery timelines
- Preparation of briefing papers or executive summaries with commercial recommendations
- Drafting of negotiation strategies
- Major participation (and, for less complex packages, leading) in-person supplier negotiations and performance reviews
- Creating and executing contract amendments
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Post-Secondary Degree or diploma in business, supply chain, science or engineering
- Experience in lieu of formal education is accepted - at least 5 years of supply chain experience in the Aerospace, Shipbuilding/Shipping/Shipyard, Automotive, Construction, Heavy Manufacturing or the Defence industry
- The following Supply Chain accreditations would be considered an asset: SCMP, MCIPS or ISM
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance
- Issue Purchase Orders for material
- Provide advice on contractual claims
- Execute contracts and amendments
- Execution of negotiated contract through Irving Shipbuilding’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) & MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems
- Lead Supplier performance reviews
- Analyze market conditions (ex: pricing, availability, lead-time and capacity)
- Support new product introduction activities
- Apply the principles of continuous improvement to the design and development of supply chain processes
- Undertake cost analysis for direct material and service
