About Red Chris
Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. Red Chris currently operates as an open-pit copper and gold mine with a promising future to transition to a high-value underground block cave operation. Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Project Engineer- Tailing Facility Construction with a competitive base salary between $109,650.00-$129,000 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Reporting directly to the TIA Construction Principal, the Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for heavy civil earthworks construction in the tailings area. The Project Engineer will work on projects related to tailings dam construction, construction resource planning, as well as borrow area, waste dump, and haul road design. The Project Engineer will form part of a design workstream supported by EIT's and professional surveyors.
Essential DutiesPosition requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Superintendent and Principal in the identification and management of project risks.
- Providing strategic and long range planning support to the project.
- Updating the project schedule and preparing project progress reports.
- Procuring services from third parties in collaboration with the RCM procurement team.
- Supervising the EIT and Project Coordinator, providing review and contributing to their work as needed.
- Reviewing execution plans for all works.
- Coordinating design review and signoff with the external verifying engineer.
- Acting as Quality Assurance lead for all enabling works, ensuring installed works satisfy the design intent.
- Issuing RFI's to external design engineers.
- Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Degree or similar combination of experience/training
- P.eng designation or the eligibility to obtain it.
- Mining and/or heavy earthworks experience
- Proficient with MS Office and managing data sets (MS Excel)
- Exposure to tailings dam design and/or tailings dam construction
- Familiarity with cyclone sand production
- Familiarity with cyclone sand placement methods such as hydraulically placed material
