Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Java and RPG Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work on projects that involve both maintaining and modernizing AS/400 systems, using your expertise in RPG programming alongside modern development practices with Java. You will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting software solutions that meet our clients' needs.

As a key member of our team, you'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and support. Your work will directly contribute to the revitalization of critical legacy systems and their integration with cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute projects using proven Software Development Life Cycle processes, procedures, and tools, including planning, coordinating all project activities, conducting project status meetings, designing and reviewing system specifications, conducting technical reviews, system testing, implementation, and post-implementation review.
  • Collaborate with business units to develop long-term strategies that leverage technology effectively and promote process improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with software development teams to understand requirements and specifications for technical design, and obtain information on system capabilities, limitations, and performance requirements.
  • Deliver relevant technical solutions based on best practices, previous experience, and similar projects.
  • Develop skills and competence on our products and projects in terms of technical design, architecture, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain applications on the AS/400 (IBM i) platform using RPG and Java.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities to ensure software quality.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools.

About You

  • 7-12 years of development experience.
  • Client-facing experience with excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and management.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with RPG programming on the AS/400 (IBM i) platform.
  • Proficiency in Java 8 (and above), with experience in Spring Boot and ReactJs.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Microservices architecture.
  • Experience in building Restful backend services using Spring Boot.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience with Linux OS, preferably RedHat.
  • Motivated, self-starter, and problem solver with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in training, coaching, and mentoring developers.
  • Exposure to Security concepts such as PKI, SSO, and SAML.
